If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, it’s -15 (5 Fahrenheit) here today, so really got to test out the remote start. But I’m VERY dissapointed it didn’t warm up the cabin. It’s like a meat locker in there.

What am I doing wrong. My old Lincoln would bring the cabin to “room temp” regardless of the outside temp.

Do you have it set on Auto? At at least 70 degrees

Oh, I see, prob not. So, I suppose we have to set that the night before? The wife likes the cold, so she prob had the temperature set quite low.

Menopause. If you know, you know.

Easy solution. Since she likes the cold I bet whe would be happy to go out and start the car for you anc change the settings. Go ahead, ask her.

Hell no. YOU ask her.

But, you're right. Your comment made laugh. Out loud.

I THINK the remote start (not the app) just starts the engine block. No heat, seats, etc. you have to use the app for that. But wait, the app doesn’t work! Thanks Genesis. Super nice having a $65k car that doesn’t have remote start.

My app works just fine.

I have the remote start on the app set up for 3 different profiles:

1. Winter Solo - where only the driver's heated seat is turned on
2. Winter Duo - where both front seats get heated up
3. Winter Family - where all four seats are heated up

Super easy to pick the profile I want.

If I remember correctly, many months ago, someone was complaining their GV80 heater was not heating the cabin to a comfortable temperature on cold days (-15C or colder) or around 0 F. Yesterday I was driving around my city and temp was -17C, in 20 minutes my GV80 cabin was still cool, I had the HVAC set on auto and temp set at maximum. I shut the vehicle off and came back 5 minutes later, I instantly noticed my heater was putting out far more heat and the vehicle heated to a comfortable level in a couple of minutes.
I also noticed when I switched to defrost setting there was not enough heat to keep my windshield from freezing up. On defrost setting it was only blowing cool air no matter what setting.
If I remember right, last winter it took a long time to heat the interior to a comfortable level on cold days.

Anyone else experiencing the same situation with their GV80. (2021 GV80 3.5T Prestige)

I live in Canada and find that the defrosting system is terrible. Definitely will not clear ice from windshield.
I was just out driving again in the cold weather. After driving about 20 minutes the cabin was still not warm. I push the inter for circulating button, and immediately warmed up.. Maybe the is part of the problem, without pushing this button, it is drawing cold air from the outside.
I think pushing this interior circulating button the cabin heats up much faster..
I will try this a few more times and see if it fixes the cold cabin problem, plus windshield icing up.

Yes, I can only get the remote start to work 25% of the time if that!!

Def. gotta configure the remote start in the app. If you start from the key fob, it just defaults to the defrost vents blowing relatively cool air.

In the app I've got 3 start programs:
Hot as Balls - vented front/rear seats, max AC (it would be so awesome if it could crack open the sunroof, too)
Winter is Coming - every possible heating option on, defrost, all 4 seat warming, etc.
Toasty - just the driver's seat/steering wheel heat on, no defrost

One thing that I have noticed if I do want to start from the key fob - it really helps to press the lock button first and then try to start it. If I don't do this, it might only start on 1 in 10 tries.

Pressing the two buttons to start as you last described is the normal and proper procedure to start the GV80. That’s been my experience with other cars in the past also. Here is the GV80 manual description how to do it:
“Press the door lock button on the smart key within 32 feet (10m) from the vehicle. 2. Press the Remote Start button for more than 2 seconds within 4 seconds after pressing the door lock button.”

In regard to the interior being cold and probably only a problem in the 2021 model year. The problem, as per Genesis is, contamination introduced at the factory during manufacturing process. Mine is having the front passenger side heater core and the entire rear heater/air conditioner system replaced as we speak. This has taken over a year to resolve, I had to park the car last winter as it was unbearable in extreme cold days. I found a work around this winter by driving it in sport mode and keeping the RPM above 2000 or driving my 17 year old Denali and turning down the heat.

Remote start. The app is cumbersome, and the car only runs for 10 minutes, and you have to start over again. Very disappointing, I wonder if anybody has had an aftermarket remote starter installed

Aftermarket remotes are generally easier to use. You will find that most have a 10 minute time too, so you will have to restart. That is done for safety. People have accidently started cars,

I find my remote to be more reliable and faster too. Wish I had done it sooner.

Are you say you added an aftermarket remote start to a GV80? What brand What model?
