Remote Start Question

I live in Canada so unfortunately as most people know BlueLink is not offered. I am wondering if anyone has installed a third party Remote Start. Specifically whether the car will shut off as soon as i open the door, or is it compatible with a take over procedure. I am looking to get the Viper Smart start, as they just recently updated their app. Thanks!

while the car has been remote started does the car have a take over function? or does it turn off as soon as you open the door.

No the car does not stop when you open the door. Once in the running car, you simply push the push to start button and you are good to go but you do need to have the fob on you or it will not function. If you do not push the start button once in, depressing the brake will shut it down.

I live in a small town (Pembroke) and unfortunately they will not do anything aftermarket. I had to go to ottawa to get my SmartKey programmed, and they wont install an aftermarket remote start. I just want coverage incase it effects my warranty.

Ultimate Automotive is near Bank Street Hyundai here in Ottawa. They have 3 types of remote starts that they install for the dealer. We had a basic one installed on my wife's Sonata, but they have lots of choices. My sales guy got one installed on his 2015 Genesis 3.8 Tech. He can start it with his android phone (Samsung S5), although there is a monthly and/or yearly fee.
They would need to order what you want, and it would take a few hours to complete the installation. Trevor Gillis is the owner.

My full one year of BlueLink is up, so instead of paying $200 for another year for it I'm going to use that money to install a Directed 4x10 with the VSM300 module(SmartStart Mobile App) for $200 from my dealer. Then I'm going to wire it up so when it is cold the heated seat kick on and when it is warm the cooling kicks on.

question on remote start: not sure if this has been answered before or if anyone has had this problem. Used Genesis connect for my GV80 to remote start car from iphone. Kept reading "pending"; pushed again-got the message "failed"; pushed again-got the message "failed"; pushed the lock button thinking I may not have locked the car and got message "success"; pushed start again and got message "failed". Went to car, and found it running, but message on phone still stated "failed". What's up?
