  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

I really hope this connected services issue gets resolved, I'm honestly afraid to plug it into the wall at the house if I can't monitor it obsessively.

I definitely have an issue with 12V system battery/charging.
This morning I brought my phone out to the battery monitor to get the latest data, and it wouldn’t connect. 12V battery was dead. Once I got a charger connected, it was reading at 6V.
I‘ll be booking a service appointment.
Would you bring up the issue with Genesis? It happened to me couple days ago, brought to deader checked and said no problem with the 12V battery. Hopefully they aware of this issue.

For some reason my car keeps changing the temperature unit to celsius. Now it won't even let me change it back.

You WILL embrace the metric system. GV60 demands it! /s
I don't think it's done that to me since I set it to imperial units.

Does anyone know if you have to take a GV60 to one of the "EV authorized" dealerships if you have an issue with it?

pro tip, take the battery monitor out before it goes to service as they will automatically blame any non Genesis 12V accessories such as battery monitors and dash cams as the culprit. Even so be prepared for them to tell you they can't find anything wrong with your battery or charging system and there is a distinct possibility you will have to rinse and repeat.

Yup. Been there before with a prior vehicle. What the battery monitor clearly shows is that the12V system is not being periodically topped up by the 800V battery.

I emailed Genesis to ask what they are doing to resolve this issue about a week ago.
Here is the response I just got:

"Thank you for contacting Genesis Motors Canada.

We kindly invite you to work closely with your Genesis Ownership Manager at Genesis Downtownwho may be able to provide you with further information in regards to your concerns.

We trust this proves useful.

Kind Regards,"

Which issue did you email them about?

The connected services and the 12V battery issue.
That is a completely useless corporate answer that one wouldn't expect of a service oriented company.
Yes , this has been their pre-printed reply to all the cocerns and complaints directed to them. I’m really worried for the support and warranty that they have been bragging about. So far, very disappointing. 😡

I'd guess the answer is yes, because presumably only the EV trained techs/mechanics will be there. I'm curious if the EV Hyundai/Kia dealerships can work on the GV60 since they theoretically should know the mechanics of the e-GMP platform.

Lots of issues with the navigation on my GV60.

It sent me to the wrong place 4 or 5 times in the past week. It said I have arrived at my destination, then I had to open Google Maps on my phone to find where the destination was, usually within two blocks of where the nav system directed me to.

Today on a long highway drive, twice the nav system told me to do a U-turn when possible (heading west on a highway toward a destination a few hundred km to the west, it told me to turn around and head east) - I ignored it and after a minute it told me the correct route again.

It told me there was no EV charger anywhere near me (while I was standing in front of a 50 kV public charger).

A very bizarre issue when using the voice search for navigation - is says "say the address in Alabama" - it seems to think I am in Alabama, but only for voice navigation search, when I search by typing in a destination it knows that I am in Canada. I searched through all the menus and can't find anywhere listed as a default location - no idea why it thinks I am in Alabama.

I have not set up Android Auto because of the hassle of a USB cord connection - but I guess I will have to. Their navigation / mapping system seems very amateurish. Other than the nav system, I love this vehicle.

My voice activated Nav also thinks I’m in Alabama!!!!

that's exactly what i was talking about above. why in the world wouldn't they put a wiper on the rear? it's a luxury vehicle and no rear visibility in snow or sleat?
The first thing we noticed is that despite it also does not present a rear wiper, its design probably makes airflow detach only at the very end of the car’s body, keeping the back window clean from water and dust. That’s not something the Ioniq 5 can say due to its commitment to the 45 Concept design.

It does not think you are in Alabama. When the software reaches a point where developer believed you might benefit from narrowing your search, it is simply giving you an example of the syntax you need to use in order to do that. Since the North American Market is dominated by the US, and Alabama is the first US state alphabetically, it uses Alabama in the example.

If the software error messages were localized for Canada it might suggest "in Alberta" when it knew you were in Newfoundland.

My description wont't make this any more useful for you, but I hope it is no longer mystifying.

When my car was delivered, the salesperson said that I should begin any navigation request by specifying the province I’m looking for a destination in. E.g. “Navigate to address in Alberta.”

Wouldn’t be much more logical for it to recognize which province/city you are in and set the default search from there.

I think so. Perhaps it’s somehow more difficult to do than it appears.

The system is very constrained. It has limited CPU and a very small memory space. It is already doing a search based on a geographically narrowed range of locations. It does not know if the search would succeed by looking in a different state or province. Usually, you are looking for an address fairly close to you, and it failed for some other reason, but the system has no way of knowing why it failed, so this advice is the best that the developers could come up with. It is the only advice that they could give that might possibly work when parsed using the same limited syntax.

Of course, the most common issue is that the parsing itself is so limited. But hey, good software is incredibly hard.
