  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

The system is very constrained. It has limited CPU and a very small memory space. It is already doing a search based on a geographically narrowed range of locations. It does not know if the search would succeed by looking in a different state or province. Usually, you are looking for an address fairly close to you, and it failed for some other reason, but the system has no way of knowing why it failed, so this advice is the best that the developers could come up with. It is the only advice that they could give that might possibly work when parsed using the same limited syntax.

Of course, the most common issue is that the parsing itself is so limited. But hey, good software is incredibly hard.
With all due respect, these discussions are irrelevant. The most basic job of GPS is to find your location which Nav is supposed to do. Then that would be your starting point to find the address that you want to search for. This is nothing but a simple overlook in the program syntax.

So much for those of us that need to find an address in the next state or the state after that?

These sorts of things are generally more complex than outsiders would imagine, but I find the voice commands to be poor in the GV60 vs. others in the industry.
My Volvo had fairly limited voice command functionality, but would generally accept and execute those commands it could using casual language. The GV60 seems to need a pretty specific syntax, which is a little outdated.

Lots of issues with the navigation on my GV60.

It sent me to the wrong place 4 or 5 times in the past week. It said I have arrived at my destination, then I had to open Google Maps on my phone to find where the destination was, usually within two blocks of where the nav system directed me to.

Today on a long highway drive, twice the nav system told me to do a U-turn when possible (heading west on a highway toward a destination a few hundred km to the west, it told me to turn around and head east) - I ignored it and after a minute it told me the correct route again.

It told me there was no EV charger anywhere near me (while I was standing in front of a 50 kV public charger).

A very bizarre issue when using the voice search for navigation - is says "say the address in Alabama" - it seems to think I am in Alabama, but only for voice navigation search, when I search by typing in a destination it knows that I am in Canada. I searched through all the menus and can't find anywhere listed as a default location - no idea why it thinks I am in Alabama.

I have not set up Android Auto because of the hassle of a USB cord connection - but I guess I will have to. Their navigation / mapping system seems very amateurish. Other than the nav system, I love this vehicle.
GV60 navigation wants you to make a u-turn on a highway when you are already going the correct way?? So much for safety features......

Well to be fair, if I had followed the navigation system's directions precisely, I would have done a U-turn, then another U turn an hour later when it told me to, and in the end I would have been going in the right direction.

Yea, I have read on some facebook forums and on here that a bunch of people are having issues with connected services.
Had my car for two weeks I am also having the connected services issue, it worked fine for about week. No other issues so far. Coming from Tesla Model 3 so far a much better experience as an early adopter.

This issue has been solved here:

Has anyone been in the rain with the car? Is the missing wiper an issue so far?

Also, of those who have their cars…..any regrets? it’s decision time for me and would appreciate your opinion. I am not as into the details as many of you, but that 12v battery issue has me a little shook

No regrets whatsoever, the car is better than I expected. There were some minor hiccups but they are all resolved. The 12v battery issue has only been ran into with one individual on this forum so far.

Definitely an oversight. Having to clean the rear window every few days gets old fast. Not sure what they were thinking.

Not sure what the issue with the battery is. I see a few people are seeing the same with the Ioniq5, EV6, and even the Niro and Kona EV's too. But it's not like the 12 volt batteries are failing in huge numbers either. Wonder what the story is.

I was on the highway 2 days ago with the rain and not happy not to have a rear wiper. I wouldn't call it a deal breaker in the rain. In the snow it might be much more of an issues. Very very stupid of them.

I might change my mind later , but as of now, the missing rear wiper hasn’t been an issue with me even in heavy rain. The snow could be a differnt story. What I have noticed, which could not be the case for other drivers, I have been driving it much like a truck with no rear window view or an suv with a big object being towed blocking the rear view. I am looking at the rear view mirror very infrequently - maybe because all the other available driving assists.

No regrets whatsoever. The driving, cabin, and technology experience exceeded all of my expectations. Ran into a bunch of issues with Genesis Connected Services but since finding the solution, the issues can be resolved very easily.

AFAIK only one person here had the 12V issue thus far.

Absolutely loving the car.

Agree

Very poor rear view anyways

Use the driving assists and have stopped shoulder checking because you can't see past the pillars anyway

And when backing up, the rear view camera and overhead camera view obviate the need for good visibility from the rear view mirror

It would be even better is this vehicle had a virtual rear view mirror

I'm not sure the 12V battery issue is enough to make or break a purchase decision. I continue to monitor mine, but the last few days, the car seems to be properly maintaining voltage. Also, a booster pack in the frunk is enough to manage the issue if/when it appears.
I don't know what the absence of the rear wiper will mean in rain or snow - haven't experienced either yet. Given the rake of the window, I'm not sure it will be an issue.
As stated above, natural rearward visibility is atrocious, but the various assists do an excellent job of limiting impacts.

The only real regret I have is the price, it seems a little excessive to me. But I do love the car.

For some reason my car keeps changing the temperature unit to celsius. Now it won't even let me change it back.

I’m having the same issue. I set it to F and every few days, I notice it switched back to C. Has anyone figured this out yet? Anyone else noticing this?

Yes, it happened to me as well. It can be fixed by restarting the car, then go into the menu and toggle it back and forth back to F.

It's a software bug, along with the fact that "Smart Support" under "Seats" not staying on when the car is rebooted.
