  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

Yes, it happened to me as well. It can be fixed by restarting the car, then go into the menu and toggle it back and forth back to F.

It's a software bug, along with the fact that "Smart Support" under "Seats" not staying on when the car is rebooted.
Why not simply get familiar with C?

Hmmm…Interesting. I wonder what’s triggering the bug. I can’t seem to tie it to any other specific actions.

I'll let you know if I find the trigger!

Might just be our friends in Asia trying to teach us the vastly superior ways of the metric system.

I’m having the same issue. I set it to F and every few days, I notice it switched back to C. Has anyone figured this out yet? Anyone else noticing this?
Resistance is futile. You must give in to the metric system. :D

As a kid growing up in Australia we had the imperial system and measured temperature in Farenheit. It took me a long time to mentally make the transition to metric, that said, once you bite the bullet, it is a vastly easier and superior system. Water freezes at 0 deg C and boils at 100 deg C. Pretty logical when you think about it.

Canada can be a pain in the ass when it comes to dealing with C° & F°. I worked for a company that was American owned & something as simple as the date was was huge. 04/05/22, 05/04/22 Writing it out May 5, 22 was how I did it & people complained, my response was, at least you know what month it was. Crisscrossing systems is always prone to errors.

A few more things noticed with the car... Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

  • The paint was contaminated. I noticed the day I got the car that the finish (silver paint) felt like it had bits of grit in it when I slid my finger across it, though it looked fine to the eye. Today I took a clay bar to it, and it's now smooth as silk.
  • I noticed that there is some movement of the painted surface of the hatch. When I was wiping the wax off, I could hear and feel that it would rub against the taillights and/or the rear window (I couldn't tell where).
  • Today, Face ID is taking two attempts to unlock the car. When I do it the first time, it reads my face, returns a green circle, and nothing happens. I do it again and it unlocks after returning the green circle. It has done this every single time I've used it today - maybe 6-8 occasions. Locking still happens as it should on the first attempt.

Most of the issues would be first model year issues.
Too bad Genesis doesn’t do mid year fixes even though these issues would have cropped up in their Korean and European models!

Definitely an oversight. Having to clean the rear window every few days gets old fast. Not sure what they were thinking.

I don't have a GV60, but I do have a loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee that has a rear windshield wiper and it's been turned on like 5x in 8 years of ownership. I just don't see the point.

Rain X sells a window cleaner that makes water bead up and roll off, might be worth trying a bottle of that.

Also, just placed a deposit on a Chevy SS EV and it does have a rear wiper, fyi.

GL.

I think I have found a new issue with the Shift-by-wire and shifter control unit. The car is stuck in 'N' with parking brake 'on', can't shift to 'P', 'R' or 'D' and can't turn off the car completely because it complains about not being in 'P'. Luckily this happened at the dealership while I was reversing the car into a parking spot.

That's quite the conundrum. If I found myself in that situation (ex. dealer nearby) my next step might be to disconnect the 12V battery to reset things. Assuming I had tools to accomplish that.

all in all Im really pleased with my GV60 but today rear suspension is clunking while going over speed bumps and also got this warnings after doing some spirited driving. Check limited differential slip, Check lane change Assist function and check digital side mirrors.

of course any new model can have issues. any new car can have a idiosyncratic fault.
but given that the GV60 has been on the road for over 6 months now in Korea it really should be pretty trouble free.
and Hyundai has an excellent record, in general, for reliability. Genesis is considered the most reliable luxury car on the market by JD Power.
at least they will pick it up and leave a courtesy car if you need service, lol

The lack of the rear wiper is a definite issue, although perhaps less of an issue if you are somewhere where it rarely rains. Even some of the professional reviewers have picked up on the problem. Tried the Rain X and it made little difference as Rain X will not magically clean the window! Sure someone could argue the rearward visibility is no worse than if you were towing a UHaul. But I'm not towing a UHaul, just want to be able to see out the window!

LOL! You need to be more gentle. :)

That last warning would be of particular concern for me, as I don't have digital mirrors.

Rearward visibility is quite poor in the base case for the GV60. Can't imagine how much worse it might be if the window is dirty.

Though, it's all comparative, I suppose. I was at a local show & shine last night, and saw a Lotus Evora - whose rear window is even smaller than ours, and about 1/3 of it is blocked by the engine. I couldn't find a back up camera anywhere on it, but thinking of it now, there must be one somewhere as I think they've been mandatory for a number of years now.

Good point. Rearward visibility and blind spots are not great even when the window is clean. But the Kia EV6 is even worse. On the other hand the Ioniq5 is better in this respect. And none of the 3 can be had with a rear washer/wiper.
