  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

That’s interesting as the first or second week I had purchased the performance. I had checked the battery level and noticed it was not fully charged. Could it have just been a battery drain from the time the car was built, shipped to the dealer and then sold to you? I still plan on checking the battery charge once a month to be in the safe side.

I did notice the battery warning one last week while I was sitting in the car admiring it (grin) and trying to set the seat so I could still see the dash. Someone had mentioned that it was just a timed warning rather than a real indicator of 12V low (and it cleared when I turned the if no ignition on). I feel kinda dumb for not putting my battery charger on it right then.

Perks of being an early adopter :D.

We are all learning new things about this car (good and bad). I also bought a portable battery jump starter that fits in the glove tray. Just in case the 12 volt dies on me for whatever reason if I’m away from home.

I'm dying laughing because my charger literally just arrived and is sitting on my doorstep.... While I'm at the shop 😂.

One week in and I think I ran into the dreaded 12V issue (ironically, the battery booster I bought after reading about the issue arrives tomorrow).

It was at the shop getting paint protection film, battery went from 76% when they closed up for the night to reporting 0% on the app about a half hour later and a completely inert car. It wouldn't take a charge from the wall AC, so now we've got the 12V hooked up to a charger (but no sign of life yet).

Hope that's a one off from it being in the shop in valet mode with the hood open (so many notifications about that)!
What you have posted here is almost identical to my first run-in with the 12V battery. It was my first week of ownership, the car was in the shop getting PPF installed, and out of curiosity I looked at the app, and it said it could not reach the car. When I went to pick it up the battery was dead.

Door lock questions:

I can lock the door with the key fob, or by touching the handle with the key on me. I have never been able to use the interior lock button. I know it doesn't work when the key is present, but I tried to leave the key in the house and it still didn't work. Is this a setting issue?

Also, when I walk up to the car with the key on me, the doors unlock. When I walk away from the car, the doors do not lock. Is this the way it is supposed to be? I am wondering if I missed programming something.

I think that is the way it works…which I hate. I wish it would lock when walking away. Particularly with the open handles I would be concerned in the rain and snow.

By the way: this is the wrong thread for this question. This thread is for problems people are having. This is more a technical question

Unlike Ioniq5, walking away won’t lock the doors. If you walk close to it and the doors are unlocked but you don’t open the doors , they will lock again.

It isn't clear under what scenario you're attempting to use the lock, but here's my take:
  • The interior electric lock button should work if you are inside the vehicle with the door closed.
  • The interior lock button does not work with the door open. I suspect the car may be unable to precisely locate the key, and they don't want you locking it in the car.
  • The car will unlock when you approach with the key. The car does not automatically lock when you walk away (I wish it did). The car will relock if the proximity unlock has been triggered, but the door not opened.

Not knowing if my door locks are working properly is a problem for me. But I am glad to hear that they are just different from other cars.

Yes, I guess I wasn’t clear. when Exiting, my process has always been to open the door, lock it with the inside button and then close the door. Guess I have a new process now.

I feel you. i used to do the same thing as you as it was the fastest way to get the door locked on the way out. I had to stop almost a decade ago with my first car that behaved like the GV60. :)

I think most cars have taken that feature away, my old 2009 civic allowed me to lock it but automatically unlocked when the door closed, and so did most other cars I've seen after that. It's to prevent you accidentally locking yourself out I think, so you don't leave the key in the car, hit the lock button, and walk away, you'll have to hit the lock button on the fob. There was a way to force it though, don't think that method will work on this vehicle but idk

Oh boy, I knew my old car was old....but didn't realize it was this far gone.

This is one reason why face ID is no gimmick. Even if I forget/lose the key there is a way in.

I thought it was entirely a gimmick before I got the car. It turns out I have been using it quite a bit.

My Mauna Red remains at Calgary Genesis aweek in and with holiday weekend no prospects of getting it fixed/home until at least next Tuesday or later. Very unhappy with Calgary Genesis - real lack of information/updates on situation and what updates have been given largely place blame on Genesis Canada. In addition to lack of communications from my service advisor Ashley, am upset with her requesting that in order to run battery down they drive vehicle rather than just turn it on, run AC and radio, etc to run SOC down. Then whoever ran the SOC down kept the vehicle overnite at their home! Additionally the loaner I was given is a four cylinder underpowered Santa Fe not even a Genesis vehicle!
Update to my situation now been 4 weeks and counting my GV60 has been at Calgary Genesis. While lift gate recall and window reporting as down when in fact it is up have both been resolved, vehicle still unable to fast charge hence unusable for any lengthy trip away from home and my level 2 EVSE charger! No ETA on fix/resolution and if I was in California the Lemon Law would be kicking in! Oh and still have non Genesis ICE loaner vehicle(4 cyl Santa Fe).

Are you not able to take any legal actions? This is not acceptable!

Agree this is unacceptable however with no Lemon Law in Canada unsure of my legal options. Have escalated things by sending unhappy email to GM of both Calgary and Edmonton Genesis and also to Executive Director Genesis Canada to see if this will light a fire under anyone😩
