  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

I thought it was entirely a gimmick before I got the car. It turns out I have been using it quite a bit.
My previous cars had keypads on the door. Enter your personal code, and you're in.

Agree this is unacceptable however with no Lemon Law in Canada unsure of my legal options. Have escalated things by sending unhappy email to GM of both Calgary and Edmonton Genesis and also to Executive Director Genesis Canada to see if this will light a fire under anyone😩
I‘d consult a lawyer: you don’t know where this whole thing is heading, and how much trouble you’ll be having later, even if things could be patched up for now. It will be more difficult to claim for any compensations later on.

Are you making long trips any time soon? It sounds like they are awaiting some advice on what to do with the car and don’t need it at the dealership. Could you drive it until you needed to go out of town or they had some idea of what to do.

Update on my Genesis GV60 Performances, Battery Management Systems issues. Currently they might have found a solution however they have ask me not to post anything yet. I should know in a week or two whether this solution resolves the issues or not. Currently it looks to be headed into it being resolve. I will provide more context and update in the coming weeks. Overall things are looking positive on fixing the Battery Management System issues and my stereo systems. Next update should be good news. I will also provide what the fix was and how it was resolve in the next post.

Glad to hear you may have some resolution as your car has been in the shop almost as long as mine has - but at least you have a Genesis loaner! From your posts I gather you are hearing more relevant info from your contacts than I have been getting which has largely been “ we are waiting on Genesis Canada to get back to us or we have to order a part/module from Korea and don’t know an ETA on it”!

Yes, next week they going to switch out my loaner which was the 2022 GV80 not even 1k miles on that one yet for a GV60 loaner for me to use. Once my Genesis GV60 is done. I'll upload some of my car pictures. As I did a lot of appearances modification to both interior and exterior of my car. To sum it up, It's one sexy beast. Still in process of trying to name my car with a personalize license plate. It's a chick magnet. ;);). Some of the interior and exterior modifications ideals came from this forum. I order my roof rack too which was 500 USD. In total looking to spend an extra 5 to 10k on new wheels, rims and etc.

Looking forward to your update. There's a lot of members on this board rooting for you!

I was wondering what kind of Mods everyone would be doing. I’m very interested in seeing them, especially if the car is now a chick magnet Lol!

I thought it was entirely a gimmick before I got the car. It turns out I have been using it quite a bit.
Face ID has been the surprise feature I use way more that I thought. Boost Mode has been the one I thought I would use a ton and have barely touched. Blame LA traffic.

Face ID is cool and seems to work well. However the fingerprint ID has been hit or miss. Today I used the face ID enter the car and tried to start the car the car with the fingerprint ID and got a message that it was inactive and to try again in one minute. I tried again and it still didn’t work. So I went into the house and grabbed the car keys. Also the digital key is also just ok. I’d rather just carry my key fob. As for a boost mode I’ve only used it a couple of times and that’s it.

While I know having a new car sit at the shop is less than ideal, I applaud your positivity. I was the first person in the DMV area with a Genesis Coupe Track Edition in 2012, and shortly afterwards, a small subset of owners had a ball bearing issue that affected shifting into 2nd/3rd on the manual transmission. I dreaded what "could" happen. Luckily, I didn't experience it until 30-40k miles and after months of research, Hyundai identified the issue and installed completely new transmissions in all affected, including mine. Didn't stop me from supporting the platform because they knocked the Genesis line out the park. I think they have a winner here and I hope people don't lose faith.

Update: Currently for the Battery Management Systems, They have outline it to the BMS module itself as it looks to be bad. Parts has been order, I believe from South Korea. From their estimate, I should have my car back in a couple weeks base on when the parts will be delivered. In total by car will be in the shop for 1 month this week and hopefully get it back by mid September or sooner is my estimated guess. Currently they have switch out my loaner which was the 2022 GV80 for the 2023 GV60 base model. Which I am satisfy with as it saves me on the gas here in the Bay Area. On a different note, My roof rack should arrive next week. Looking forward to that. I have also order various carbon fiber internal components for my GV60 Performances which entails the side vents. Anything that has a vent will have carbon fiber plus whatever I can place Carbon Fiber on. I plan to wrap the outside chrome of my car with matted black. As my car is the Matterhorn matted white. I want to do a black and white theme. Basically my rims will be from Security Check in black. I have also order door linings for my car to even further reduced wind noise and prevent people from slamming my car door not intentionally of course. For the front grill I'm going to wrap that in Matted Black. I'm also going to change the front genesis symbol to ones that can glow white as it's not against the law. Need to double check that as I saw Mercedes and new cars have the lighted car symbols. More upgrades to come.

Three rims I'm selecting from:

21 inch they don't have 22in for the GV60 yet as I have already ask them.

AVANT GARDE® - AGL71 Monoblock Custom Finish more details on - Security Check
SAVINI® - SD-31 3PC Custom Finish more details on - Security Check
ANRKY® - AN39 3PC Custom Finish more details on - Security Check

Still deciding.

Still deciding.
Glad they have finally diagnosed and hopefully resolved your issue with the parts which have been ordered. My situation is much like yours as vehicle will have been in shop five weeks this Friday. They have ordered part which they “think”will resolve my fast charging issue but do not anticipate its arrival till September 1 at the earliest. In both our cases I believe they have taken an inordinate amount of time diagnosing issues with a lot of back and forth between dealership/national office and Korea. While I get this is a new vehicle here in North America, the GV60 has been out since last September so one would think they would have a better handle on issues. Additional it appears they have zero part inventory in NA, and even in Korea from what I have gathered, with them often having to manufacture parts before they can be shipped for repair jobs. My loaner situation remains a 4cyl. Santa Fe although they have promised me an upgrade when I go on holidays on August 26. Unfortunately upgrade will not be a Genesis as “none available” however have promised an upgrade for duration this Friday to a “luxury class” vehicle🤪

I’m not surprised that there is no local parts inventory, but am amazed that they took this long to conclude that the BMS is the problem. That seems the first thing that one would suspect is the issue, and I would have expected them to order the part in anticipation of needing to swap it out.

Yea, totally agree. From my assessment is they don't want to spend needlessly unless they know for a fact that's the issue. Hopefully they get the parts soon. So I can have my car back. Driving a GV60 red loaner car isn't for me. Not my color lol.

And what’s wrong with the Mauna Red - would love to have mine back!🤪

Red is too girly for me. Red doesn't suit my Asian American skin tone and it's a ticket magnet. Cops loves red cars. lol

Multiple studies have show that red cars do NOT get more tickets
