  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

Multiple studies have show that red cars do NOT get more tickets
My cop friend confirmed that such studies exist.

Of course black is the fastest...

I thought we might start a thread one various issues that might be a concern on the GV60.
The two initial issues have to do with the Ioniq 5 but since they are both based on the same e-GMP platform we might expect them to plague the GV60 as well.

1. charging: a couple of youtube reviews have noted that the Ioniq does not have pre conditioning of the battery. As a result, cold weather charging never exceeded 50-60 kw. It took 18 minutes to go from 20 to 40% at a two Electrify America stations.
The review also alluded to multiple complaints of the same slow charing in Europe.
This is likely fixable by an OTA update but that would be a sad start if the Genesis has similar slow charging, particularly when their major claim is the speed of charging.

2. another review discussed how bad the visibility out the back window without a wiper was in snowy weather.

The visibility, out the back, even without snow, really isn't good (the spoiler is so right in the way). I can only imagine what a drag snow will be. In general, visibility isn't great (something I didn't really think about before hand).

Visibility out the back (or for that matter, towards the left or right) isn't that good, even without snow. I live where it snows a lot, I do worry about that (neither Iooniq 5 or EV6 have a rear wiper, a mistake on all of them.

I've never seen that photo before. I think I prefer the spoiler here over the design that made it to production.
I KNOW I would prefer the spoiler up there. I dislike seeing it every time I look in the rearview mirror. As for a wiper hurting the looks: I don't care about that, I'd rather have a wiper.

For some reason my car keeps changing the temperature unit to celsius. Now it won't even let me change it back.

I've had that issue a few times. When you're trying to change, turn the car off and then back on, and it's easier.

Also, of those who have their cars…..any regrets? it’s decision time for me and would appreciate your opinion. I am not as into the details as many of you, but that 12v battery issue has me a little shook
It took me a long time to find out what the dome shaped light on the speak housing on top of the dashboard is. There's the light that goes red when the car is locked, and on the other side, there's the dome shaped light, which has gone on a few times, when my car is sitting, locked in my driveway. I just learned that the indicates the car is using the big battery to recharged the 12 volt. I've had the car 3 weeks: why should the 12v battery need recharging?

Well, you do not have an alternator to keep it charged, so the system will top off the battery from time to time.

I recently installed my front license plate in the lowest part of the middle of the grill on my GV60 I’ve had for a few weeks now and been getting front collision safety system disabled warnings & that the radar has been blocked - has anyone ever seen similar? I’m wondering if the radar is centrally located & my license plate position is bad. I’m going to try to switch the location to the front side of the car and see if that fixes that problem that only came up with the new plates.
I've had those same warnings, and am baffled. I called Genesis and they weren't able to explain it.

The rectangular box in the front of your grill is the radar transducer. If you block that with your license plate, you will have issues. You have to mount the plate above that box.

Yikes! I'm surprised to see that. I'd have thought that keeping the rear defroster on would keep snow from accumulating. Personally, I'd be more concerned with mess from wet/slushy roads.
That doesn't do much good when the car is parked and it snows. And: having lived in places that snow all my life, defrosters aren't enough. Slush is bad too. A wiper would have been a great idea.

Here is a pic showing what DaleNet is describing above. I'm using the OEM plate mount.

I agree and that was a part of my decision to cancel my order as I live where it snows a lot. I am hoping to try the gv70 electric when it is out next year and perhaps by that time a wiper will be added to the next year version of the Gv60. It was a blast to drive though so will watch and see what owners think & say during the next winter

I thought it was entirely a gimmick before I got the car. It turns out I have been using it quite a bit.
Yes use it a lot. Also like that you can lock with face ID if you dont have the key

So when your car is off, the 12v battery is what is powering everything, the screens, the lights, the mirrors folding, the power seats, door unlocks etc. I believe. So since there is some minor battery draw even when you're away from your locked vehicle, or if it's unlocked and you're just messing with some other stuff around the car, the system will try to make sure that the 12v battery is still functioning by topping it up occasionally. I think it does that by time and not by checking the level of the battery, so if you left a door open and it needed to keep powering on the screen to show you that notification, your 12v battery might still be overdrawn and die.

Excellent news! Thank you for keeping us all posted as we may also encounter this issue.

yes please, upload the doc.

Might the difference be standalone Genesis dealers versus Hyundai shops where they added Genesis as an afterthought? Apparently Calgary is opening a true Genesis dealership on the south side and I will for sure transfer my relationship from the combined dealer on the north side.
My salesperson told me that they must have a GV60 loaner for those of us who have purchased a GV60. And they have only received 5 to sell. It's a combined dealership.

Yes going to BC August 26 thru Sept. 3 for two family weddings. Had contiplated doing exactly as you indicated however am concerned about giving up loaner (such as it is) as if still not resolved and won’t give me another loaner I am SOL😩 on attending weddings in BC!
Is anyone else having DC fast charging issues?
