  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

To fix my trunk rattle, they did the following:
  1. Found nut for RR tail lamp assembly backed off. Re-secured and checked torque for other nuts.
  2. Found lower rear glass window nuts loose, re-torqued to spec.
  3. Found TSB 23-BD-006H-1, states to install washers on the side guide bumper and adjust.
There is also part 81738-GI000-FF (Qty 1), but I don't know which of the 3 this part was for.

Genesis in Gaithersburg, MD is great! Matt Mills is a wonderful advisor.

Nice. Many dealers don't want to be bothered doing diagnostic work.

Agree. I mentioned the rattle at 5k maintenance at a different dealership and they said they fixed it by "adjusting striker for the trunk", but it persisted and I didn't want to take it back to the same place.

A former HMC vehicle I had, suffered from the same trunk rattle problem. They wanted to do the TSB on the strike plate and bumper adjustment with shims. I didn't want to sit all day at the dealership, so my fix was spray all the bumpers with some expensive 6% silicon spray.

Worked for me, and no trip to the service department.

You could also add your own washers

Thank you for this!

A couple new issues with my car:
  • A raft of creaks and rattles coming from the interior's rear
  • The driver's side mirror not going back to it's proper position when I select my user presets, after a different user profile has been used in the interim.

Sounds like you have the ultimate love/hate relationship with the GV60.
…from another thread.

I’ll say it again, I love the hardware, hate the software and service.

I think Genesis has squandered a tremendous opportunity. They have some great product at good prices, and if things performed as advertised they could have had me as a customer for life - but they just keep dropping the ball.

Two recent examples:
-Recent abysmal app update

-This weekend, I scheduled an appointment online for later this week to have the above issues checked out. The website (supposedly) indicated when appointments were available, but this morning, I got an email from my Service Advisor that there were no appointments available until May 15. Then about an hour later, a text message confirming my appointment this week, followed by an email from an employee (apparently on the Hyundai side of the dealership) reaching out to confirm things for this week.

Yep. Pretty bad. Here in the states the problems breakdown into two camps: (1) dealer issues; and (2) Genesis issues. The first issue is very variable from what I have seen on this forum and from my own experience. I have had excellent service from my dealer but that has not been true of other dealers.

In a sense, the Genesis problems are more severe as one can't just go to another company to get Genesis service. Genesis makes great cars; but if it wants to truly compete with the German big 3, it needs to ramp up its service levels. It has a bigger problem than its competitors because of its screwup a number of years ago when it started selling cars out of Hyundai dealerships in the US. That led the dealerships to argue, successfully, that they had the contractual right to sell and service Genesis vehicles. So Genesis is now left with many hostile dealerships that impede quality.

So I've had recall 021G applied to my car now, and I've since DC fast charged twice at EA to somewhere between 85-90%. Both times, the charge rate would be sustained between 150-180 kW if I was alone on a balanced charger or between 120-150 kW if someone was next to me on a balanced charger. The weird thing is once it hit 80%, the charge rate plummeted to a level 2 charge rate of 6-7 kW and stayed that way until it reached 82%, or about 3-4 minutes. Then it would ramp back up to the low to mid 100s for a bit before settling somewhere between 60-80 kW, until I stopped it close to 90%. I think this also happened to me once after 907G was applied but at the time I just chalked it up to EA issues. But now, I'm wondering if the ICCU software update changed the fast charge curve. Anyone else experiencing this weird slow down at 80% after the recall 021G update?

Yes, I've noticed excally the same thing both in Tahoe cold weather and the last few weeks in Roseville. At first I thought it was the chargers in Truckee. Strange...

The charge rate drops to the single digits at 80% for cell balancing and lasts for just a few minutes. I’ve seen it on mine before the recall (which I still need to get done).

It's always worked this way, nothing to do with the recall.
Ah ok good to know that it's the same for others. I just don't remember it taking so long at the 80% mark for several minutes. I had a 23 GV60P loaner last month that had none of the updates (still on the 2023 software with the larger font and indicator lights in the old positions). That was able to go from 14 to 85% in 23 mins and 16 to 82% in 17 mins the 2 times I DCFC that car, versus my own GV60A going from 13 to 84% in 26 mins yesterday. 3 extra minutes isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but it just seemed to be much more noticeable than before. Oh well. Still better than the dude that was next to me in a Niro. I plugged in at 13% when he was already at 73% and I overtook him when we both crossed 84%. He was amazed that it could charge so fast and I told him if he got an Ioniq5 instead, he could have had the same experience. :ROFLMAO:

Still enjoying the car very much!

Tried searching the thread and didn't come up with anything... has anyone had some recurrent issues of the computer being slow to boot, or getting stuck in a boot loop? Had it happen last night for the first time, sat for a few minutes, tried turning off and on a few times and could not get either of the screens to boot (so the driving dashboard was basically black save a few of the icons on the edges). I let the car sit and we took our other car, came back several hours later and tried turning it on again and it sort of did the same thing, though this time slowly actually booted up (took like 2 minutes). This morning it did successfully boot as well but again it was slow. Of note I believe I still have the OTA stuck issue from last year, I haven't been able to take it to a dealer (1.5 hours away).

You definitely need service. Mine either boots immediately or takes about 10-15 seconds. Nothing like you describe.

It is on the agenda to get recalls done, just haven't scheduled out time off of work... I am thinking this issue might mean they are going to need more than a day though which is going to be annoying. My guess, assuming I remember correctly for the reason the OTA update fails to download, is maybe there is a low memory issue not allowing the car to boot regularly.

Yup. I find the boot logic to be pretty smart. When I open the trunk to toss a bag in before heading out, it seems to trigger the boot sequence, so by the time I make it to the driver's seat, the system is already booted and ready to go.

Since purchasing the GV60 in early December 2023, it has been in the shop for over 6 months. There were several 2-5 day stints, then one just over 2 months, and now the recent one over 3 months. It was bought in Victoria, BC. 1/3 to 1/2 the mileage on the car has been put on running back and forth to dealer.

The dealer has admitted that they are having serious issues with GV60 software. I would never recommend to anyone to buy a GV60, their software is nowhere near ready for primetime. All the features they advertise are for nothing, at any one time several will not be available. I mean if you cant even figure out how to make doors unlock upon approach with key, you're not in the game.

We are waiting for a call from their "legal department" , we want a refund. If we can't come to agreement we will have to go the legal route. Youtube videos will be made.
