  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reset clock today

But, how do you switch it from 12 to 24 hr mode... , Oh, never mind. ;-)

Never say never:

On my genny, it's a piece of cake.

1. push the setup button
2 tap the clock button on the display screen that pops up
3. Three options come up

GPS

DST

24 Hour Time

Have fun

It's that time again USA (except AZ)! Turn DST ON to correct your Genny's clock. Happy spring! (almost).

If you want to complain about or defend the fact that this is a manual step please review this thread first. Its all been said! :-)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Another couple of observations about the "manual setting"

1. Hard coding tables with DST by area could become a problem if and when local areas change their observation of DST, or if Congress legislates different dates to observe DST. If either of those things happen, the logic in the car is broken, and cannot be fixed without a firmware upgrade.

2. Other auto manufacturers use the same system. Chrysler U-Connect for example, which is often regarded as one of the best infotainment systems in automobiles.

I am going to make this thread even longer. :p

I pay $25/month per line for cell phone service. It includes unlimited talk and messages and 1 GB of data. It also has the correct time, always.

I will pay about $8/month for basic BlueLink and get not much. I really thought that the BlueLink equipped Gennies had this time of day thing covered. Oh well.

it takes 10 seconds..... just think of it as an opportunity to touch your car more.

The idea about laws changing doesnt fly with me. You build cars for the current laws. It should automatically set dst since it has all the information needed to do it.

For a telematics-equipped car, this is a no-brainer. The clock should always show the correct time. No smarts are needed.

What cars that you've owned do this?

My 2014 Acura RLX adjusted for DST automatically, never had to touch anything. Pretty sure my '09 and '11 TLs did as well.

That works fine, unless Congress changes the rules as to the date that DST starts and stops, like they did about 10 years. You can read about this in various Acura forums where Acura owners had to get upgrade their Nav Maps and Software to fix it, at a cost of about $200.

Each country choses the date that DST starts and stops, and most are different than the USA. Right now, EU is still not on DST yet.

That's true, but odds are if you're keeping a car that long, you'd be buying a GPS update at some point.

As Seejay said earlier, this is a "connected car" with an active network connection. If a cell phone can pull down the correct time, a car should as well based on an NTP (network time protocol) which is based on a country/time zone.

I was just answering another post that asked what other cars can actually do this.

I am just wondering if any cars would actually update a change in DST rules from an internet connection, or do they depend on a software upgrade.
