ResistAll vehicle protector

So, I bought my wife a 3.8 Base and added the ResistAll protector which the finance guy said covered the interior carpet and leather seats from any damage including cuts to the leather up to an inch long. Does anyone have any experiences with this product? Has anyone that bought it had to use it and if so did it actually cover the damage?

Never heard of it so I looked them up. Sure seems like your run of the mill paint and upholstery protection scheme which in the past has proven to be way overpriced for what it actually does and some including myself call it snake oil. I would question the coverage of cuts in the upholstery as I see no mention of this on their site. http://www.ctpc.com/products/resistall-ng/
 
it seeemd like BS but what was said by the finance person looked like good coverage especially once he said that if any permanent marker will come of it they will re-upholster it, so I recorded the conversation and will get more information when I get to the service counter. If it's not true then I will ask for my money back and if they refuse I will play the recording of the finance guy telling all the BS and let's see if they can deny it then

Reminds me of when I bought a new Toyota Camry in 1992, back when there were still voluntary export limits of Japanese cars sent to the USA, and most Japanese cars sold for list price or above in the USA.

On the window price sticker, there was a $500 protection package added that the salesman explained to me, and it sounded like what the OP described. I told the salesman that I did not want that and was not going to pay for it. He said it came from the distributor like that (Gulf States Toyota) and they could not remove it. I told him I would not pay for it, and it was removed from the price (but I still paid MSRP).

When I got home with the new car, there was a clear plastic bottle of some generic brand car protection liquid in the glove compartment with instructions on how to apply it. The bottle was full and apparently had not been used. I threw it away.

Sounds like more of an insurance policy than it does a real product.

It probably was a good idea to record the conversation, but legally, a sales contract (such as a new car purchase) must have all terms and conditions in writing to be enforceable. This means that anything the say verbally is usually not binding. Verbal statements are enforceable for contracts that are less than $500 in value.

For example, when I buy a new car, I tell the dealer it must not have a dealer emblem on it. They usually verbally tell that they will remove it. I make sure to add that to the sales contract (wherever there is some white space) and initial it, and have the dealer initial it also.

You woke up some memories. My first new car! Purchased a 1981 Toyota Celica Supra. White with burgundy interior and the ever so popular option of a sun roof. Paid $15,000 at the time. Kept it for 11 years and when I sold it, it was still in almost new condition however with several miles on the odometer.

you are probably correct about the legality of it but if they don't do whats right i will ask everyone i know to post bad reviews of this dealer and their finance department....lol

You can always try your local consumer affairs TV reporter. They love this stuff.
 
ResistAll is something that should be sprayed on innocent and naive car buyers to protect against the finance office up-sellers. Money is better spent on an extended warranty, if the right price can be negotiated and the car is expected to be owned beyond the factory warranty period.

Never agree to purchase something on the fly you know zero about except what being told to you by the person who will personally take home part of the money. Most decisions made in the dealer F&A office during a sale are not advisable, as you are the most vulnerable to BS at that time and they know it.

You need to read between the lines on that one. It says "some" punctures. Rest assured if you claim one, it will definitely be of the type not covered. :rolleyes:

I will call them later on and ask for some clarification of "some" punctures. I have decided to keep the coverage as if its true about it covering all the above(including Vomit....lol) then it may be worth the price. I am not about to put it to the test but just in case one of the kids gets messy back there.

It may cover vomit, but only the affect the vomit would have on the surface (which would be minimal or none you clean it off). I am pretty sure that if the vomit gets through the ventilation holes in the seats, they are not going to fix the stench that would cause.

Thank for the info. I took the car in to be treated and it looked good. Now, How long it will stay like that i don't know. Next week i will take it so they can treat the paint. I'm reading the information page but i can't seem to find if it need to be treated on a monthly basis or just one time.
