Hey guys,
Tom from ATQ here.
I've been watching this thread with utter frustration for the last few months. I apologize for not being able to respond to the masses sooner. I couldn't manage to get my account registered for some reason.
The 2010-2014 Genesis Sedans Require the use of 10 Subframe
collars
The 2015-2016 Require the use of 6 or 8
Collars. Each kit sent out to everyone contains 8
collars. ( 2 extra ) for those who need it.
We have installed the
collars in our shop on two AWD models and 2 RWD models. Both 3.8 and 5.0 Neither of the Canadian Models required the additional 2
collars.
In the States, you could have an AWD or RWD Same engine, and the
collars fit on one and not the other. This is why we include the 2 extras for you guys in case you need them. Since Hyundai did not make them the same. We have ABSOLUTELY no way of knowing whats going on under your front sub frame without literally measuring every single Sedan and putting the measurements to your
vin code.
Sub frame
collars DO NOT void any type of warranty on any type of vehicle, so they are safe to install without worry.
All 6/8 subframe
collars install on the subframes up facing subframe bolts on the car. The only exception is the 2 studs at the very back of the subframe on the rear subframe.
Hope this helps some of you guys out.

Unfortunately and somewhat disappointing that ATQ did not include these different versions is the fact that both the 3.8 and 5.0 come in either RWD or AWD which I can see might have slight differences
in the subframe and be the reason that some need 6 and some need 8. I find it hard to believe that some say 3.8 AWD subframes take 6 and some 8 and highly question this belief that there is NO WAY to determine how many collars are needed for say an AWD or a RWD vehicle. This flies in the face of all logic IMHO.
Larry
ATQ here, Larry it would seem that these sub frames were pulled from a pile with some allowing the additional 2
collars and some not. We do not control Hyundai's production line and have absolutely no way of knowing which is which since it seems to be random. As such we include 2 additional
collars with each 2015-16 kit, so that our customers are able to add the other 2 if needed. We have worked on 4 Sedans, AWD/RWD and not one out of the 4 required the additional 2
collars. In the States, some of you are able to add them and some are not. Without physically measuring, every single sedan, and noting those measurements to your specific
vin, there is absolutely no way to know. This is common with many vehicles that the manufacturer will pull parts from essentially a pile and put them on the vehicle. The RWD and AWD Sedans have the exact same sub frames. The
collars welded to the subframe in the very front, could be various sizes during the welding process from the factory.
Hope that clears it up for you.
