If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Road Trip results in Worst and Best MPG's so far

i got better mileage at 81mph than at 76mph. idk why, but i did it on a road trip to and from Florida. just look at card and driver's 23mpg average over 100k to get your answer. we're not the only ones pulling this off. if you drive at 55mph and set the crusie you will get more than 30mpg. i did that to.

I was driving to Fort Lauderdale on the turnpike. I did use the cruise control when going but when returning , I did drive faster. Have not got the chance to drive much since i bought it in Feb.

This car is stable at high speeds.

Great car!

No, I did not buy a car with 375 HP :D to run 30 mph, as noted above my driving style is quite the opposite. You can't drive 500 miles balls-to-the-wall, or you'd be in jail, so the cruise control works great when your not doing a buck 20.

:) Well, it's good to know that you can squeeze more MPG if you need.
I'm going to invest some money in Laser-Radar Detector (yes, they're legal in CA) and see how it works out.

In the process of taking my first road trip with my 2010 4.6 Genesis. (Got it 2 months ago with 19K on it). 340 miles from Tucson, Az. to Gallup, Nm. (only 40 miles on the freeway) got 29.5 mpg. 500 miles from Gallup to Denver, Co. (NO freeway and mountains up to 10,900 ft. all the way) got 31.5 mpg. Now... I DO drive like an old man, taking it easy on the starts and stops, but it does go to prove what kind of mileage these cars are capable of.

awesome.

2011 3.8, tech pkg.

Wow!! I'm amazed at the reports here on the superior mileage results. I'm a 50/50 city/hwy driver and still limping along at just under 18 mpg. Had the car in to see if there was a problem but none found. Pretty disappointing. Still love the car.

No problem....Just take a road trip and you'll get close to 30.

Only have about 300 miles so far but in 45-55 mph-traffic light to traffic light I'm getting 25 mpg. Unusual that it appears to only be .2 off the car's displayed average- my VW's are 4-5 mpg off the display.

27.0 with Cruise set at 80...
And I thought y'all were lyin...shame on me.

Anyway, I think that it's great that you're getting such good fuel economy. Although a good part of my driving is at freeway or near-freeway speeds, I only get around 20-21 MPG. But my first road trips of any length are coming up, and I'm going to see if I can do better.

I am getting less than 19 mpg in my brand new Genesis Coupe 2.0 T so I am a bit concerned. Will check tire pressure and may try the premium gas thing.

2012 3.8
Short trip 530mi avg 28.7, some agressive driving 80+. Speedometer is 2 MPH faster than GPS Speed.
Less than 1200 mi on vehicle.

Web site is driving me crazy, locks up, kicks out and have to reenter pwd. Think their server is badly in need of upgrade.

200 Mile highway jaunt today average 27.5 cruise set at 75... touched 28 a few times...all this and 385 Horses...CMON!!!

Hey does anyone elses car show a slight difference between the Speedo and the MPH set on the Cruise display?? If my cruise display shows 80 my speedo looks like 81 or 82.

Just returned on a 280 mile roundtrip ride. The return was on the same road as going, so the difference in elevation averaged out. It was 95% highway and the on Board calculator was 29.6 and the refill calculation was 29.4. 2012 3.8 A/C on the whole way. Total vehicle milage 1408.

I'm curious to see people's results with the 2012's and the new 8-speed trans. I would think that would only blip up MPG's even more.

I took a road trip this past weekend and averaged in my R - Spec about 24.7 going an average 60 - 70 highway and back country roads.

Going from South Lake Tahoe to San Francisco on the mountain part of the Highway 50 I had 37.5 MPG and 26.5 MPG for overall 195 miles trip (4.6 Gen with Tech, regular fuel) with AC on all the way. This includes heavy traffic at the Bay Bridge approach!
