  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey folks,

June 2012 5.0 RSPEC here. Want to preserve the life of my tires. Although, I do sometimes listen to the devil on my shoulder and peel out once a month, and squeal the tires around a curve once a month....

1) How long did your first set of tires last A) Calendar Days B) Miles ?

2) How often did/do you A) rotate and balance B) Align?

Thank you guys and gals! :D

NCRSPEC

You also need to ask which tires they have. ;)

Bridgestone Pole position SO4
rotate/balance every 5K miles
got 17.5K miles out of them before they were at the wear bars. Did an alingment when I replaced the tires and only the toe was just a little out of spec on the front.

I drive hard. Hard launches without spinning the tires much. Hard cornering. In other words, it's an R Spec so I drive it like one. :)

I have almost 20k on my original Continentals and 19k on my winter Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds with at least 15k remaining on both sets according to the dealer. I keep asking them about remaining tire life because (good news/bad news) I'm ready to try something but there's no practical reason to do so. I rotate every oil change (7,500) and have never had an alignment. I corner faster every time I pass a tire shop. :D

Nearly 16k miles on the stock Conties and still had just over half the tread remaining last time I measured.

19.5K on the Contis - probably due for a new set next spring. Think i was at 7/32 and 6/32 (front/back) last time I checked and they say to replace between 2/32 and 4/32.

tire life depends on how fast a start/stop, speed, road conditions, road surfaces, inflation, alignment, and temperatures. But most of all the type of tire and driving habits.

I Drive a 4.6 not Rspec, and I've got 13k on my Michelin Pilot Super Sports with "spirited" driving :D and only 5% or so of my miles on the highway.
Rotated at 10k when the backs were at 5/32 and fronts at 8/32. Will probably last to 20k.

OEM Dunlops lasted 18-20k (guess). Bought the car at 23k on the odo with a relatively new set of Dunlop Signature SP Sports, which were toast at 33k. Overall I'll have about 55k when this 3rd set of tiers are done on this car, so call it 17k average. I average 19 MPG on mostly regular gas.
