  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is this possible? Have tons of movies stored to the phone and would like to play them in the car. Anyone know a way?

Don't know about the phone playback on the screen. There is a module you can buy to play videos from the DVD player while out of Park.

There is no way. I have also tried this by loading them to my flashdrive and trying to play them off of that. There is no format that the car will recognize to play movies from an external device. Sucks, I know.

The little round audio_video jack (next to the USB port) will accept NTSC compatible video signals and display those on the dash screen. That "submini" port has NTSC video, left audio, right audio, and a ground so it needs a 4-ring jack. That assumes your phone has a "video out" port that is analog, not digital.

There is another thread on these forums about displaying video from roughly two years ago if you SEARCH.

The module that "talks to" the USB port is only capable of a couple music formats, nothing else.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Wow, This forum is full of people with too much attitude for their own good. I did SEARCH as you mentioned above and everything I came up with was years old and not all that informative. I thought there may be a chance that there was some new knowledge. Thanks for the response but check the all caps spelling at the door. It’s not needed and unnecessary.

Assumptions make you look stupid and uninformed.

To the rest of your post, thanks for the info. I did read about the NTSC but my phone (Galaxy S3) does not do video out through the headphone jack from what I can find so far.

There has been some work on the genesis coupe for custom media software and custom navigation software. It involves updating from USB, once the command executes it looks for a file called install.exe. The file is actually the windows CE explorer.exe but renamed. Of course this is the extremely simplified version of what happens.

I have tried to do a USB update like the genesis coupe but it didn't work in my 2009 tech. I am running HU version 19.00, the latest version is 21.00 I think. Perhaps an update to the headunit allowed for USB updating. Read the g e n c o u p e.com thread for more info.

*******One of the problems I'm having with this forum is the auto correct feature. When I type G E N C O U P E.com it is displayed and linked to genesiscoupe.com. In the above hyperlink remove the spaces to get to the correct forum OR you can google search "genesis coupe nav hack" it should be the first link that comes up.

Genesis coupe has completely different navigation system.

I have a Pro Clip mount on the center console with a Ipad mount holding it. Attached the Hyundai factory Ipad cable to the cars audio system which charges and play audio. I can play video or connect to my hotspot and stream audio or video.

I have a Galaxy S III as well. The only way to pull video out is to use the mini-USB HD adapter. There's no way to pull video out of the phone either with cable or BT that the car can display.
