  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No need to put cards around the tires or remove the center cap. All I did was mask off the fenders/quarter panels, and anywhere that I can see might get over spray. I've dipped other cars before in past, including window trims and emblems.

The process in total should take 2 hours. Make sure you get an even 5 coat of dip on each wheel to make removal easier should you decide the outcome doesn'the look good. I sprayed 5 coats on each wheel, followed by an addition 2 coats of Glossifier to give it a shine.

When dipping, after the 4th coat, inch you car up or down to make sure you haven't missed anything, especially with these multispoke wheels. Once you're done dipping, wait a few minutes, and peel the dip off your tires, tear at the edge only, do not attempt to "peel" it off or you could risk taking the dipped with you.

Of course, I did this all with the wheels still in place. You can always remove the wheel to make it easier. Check out Dipyourcar on Youtube, Fonzie goes over this process in great detail. I have his videos bookmarked lol.

I actually redipped one of my wheels, driving 6 1/2 hours back home in our Parisian Gray car peeled some of my dip off. Fastest color you know :)

I'll post more pictures tonight of the process.

I used 3 Walmart plastic bags, tore it down the middle, then threaded the bags through the wheels and into the rotors/calipers. My hands and wrist can fit through the spokes. With the front calipers, since they're so large, you have to make sure to dedicate one bag to covering it. It's easier than it sounds, just go try it out.
