Sedan windshield replacement cost

Just curious, is anyone else finding that these windshields just aren't as strong as they used to be?

I've had my '13 Genny sedan for 3 months, and so far have picked up 2 separate chips in the windshield. I repaired the first one, and just picked up another stone chip last night on the highway (not even from following a dump truck, just off a small sedan that was in front of me). My wife's Nissan Murano is 8 years old and has never had a single chip or crack.

I just lowered my comprehensive deductible to $0, so at least these chips won't cost me out of pocket...

Ok since it's been a few years since the windsheild thread let me give some current info. I just had my windsheild done by windsheild specialists on winston-salem and it cost 250.67 including everything even tax. They installed the same sound master windsheild that was in it. I could've had an off brand one for 212.55 but it looked wavy and id rather have the original. Now i did have to call and say hey im paying cash and let them know i was price shopping. The girl at the last shop told me wholesale cost on mine was 137.10 so all mark up. If you say you're using insurance the price is like $600-700 bucks. Good luck to all and yes mine had the heated wiper park area and the rain sensor.

I may have to make the drive. Can't find one under 480ish in the area, and they're billing out closer to 9.

$394 is what it costs me in Plano Texas area. I got the same exact windshield (noise acoustic, camera, and rain sensor) replacement.
Shop around you'd save money.

If you think the windshield is a softie - wait 'til your sunroof gets bashed - mine was wiped out on Monday by hail, and the material which seems to be glass, crumbles in your hand - maybe a tad stronger than a Hershey bar.

Anyone know what the replacement cost is in recent days? Anyone can do this such as Safelite? Or does it need to be done somewhere else like a dealer only?

Not every Safelite has the equipment to calibrate the cameras and such so check with them locally. No idea of the cost but check our insurance for coverage.

Thanks! I just last week changed Insurance companies and my old one had a "Glass Replacement" item and had a small deductible. From the looks of it on the new one I have to put it under Comprehensive and will be on the hook for the $500 deductible and I am reading that it will affect the rates (not huge but still there is an $$ impact).

I actually have my neighbor's kid shooting a street puck and hitting the car on camera as this was parked in front of my house on the street (allowed) so dealing with that will be another issue.....I've seen the green pucks (baseballs and other balls) hit my cars but never made a stink about it as its annoying but are minor so no harm no foul until this .

Based on the conversation with the parents I'll dig further as it has the impact and cracks going out so the whole thing will need replacement.

If they cannot, another forum member had the dealer setup to have a local glass company come to the dealership and replace the glass. The dealer then did the calibration, and it was done on a single work order, so the insurance paid.
