In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. hey guys,
Im going to try to keep this short. I found what i believe is a great deal on a 10' genesis sedan without tech w/7K miles for for $25200. I have been approved for the loan but the car is out state and the dealer and credit union should be sorting that out but my main thing is will I be missing out on not getting tech package? Is the the price really as good as im thinking it is? should i take the deal?. Its burgundy in color.. never seen the car in person. I know pics don't do justice so im hoping its a good choice. what do u guys think?

I think the Tech pkg is worth the extra $$, but your deal is a good one regardless, especially at 7000 miles. But...
It being out of state means you haven't driven it. For all you know it's the 1 in 100(?) that has a poor suspension. You may also find that you hate the color.
Those reasons alone make me suggest you pass on this deal. Wait for the 2012 introduction (June? July?) and 2010's should be plentiful around this price.
My humble opinion since you asked

I don't think it's a good idea to buy anything - much less a car - sight unseen. As for the tech package, I didn't buy it because a) it doesn't include anything I was willing to pay extra for, and b) the more tech stuff you get, the more there is to break. My opinion, FWIW

Agree dg_moore. I think I recall seeing inspection services on many of the vehicles listed on ebay. If you are going this route, at least spend a hundred bucks or so having someone located where the vehicle is located, independently inspect the vehicle for you.

well when i say out of state i meant from Ohio to Michigan. Its like a 4 hr drive but i didnt want to take a long drive to just look at the car... My intentions is to have the check from the credit union ready and drive up there... after seeing the car and if its not basically in perfection condition I wont go through with the deal. I just dont know how the small details are going work out but thats what im hoping to do at the minimum.

There is only one way I would buy a late model used car out of state and that would be for a CPO one at that brands dealer. At least you have the certification that the manufacturer will stand behind it. Private sale or used car lot cars I would avoid like the plague without a thorough inspection and test drive. I have bought BMW's and Saab's CPO sight unseen and never had a problem but you will generally pay a little more for that peace of mind. Since Hyundai warranties do not transfer well except at a Hyundai dealer I would be wary of a late model private sale without due diligence. Since you sometimes get what you pay for, I would be very careful at that price for a 2010 4.6.

i'm going to re-consider this i guess... I mean I felt like there was a good reason it was this cheap (being a repo car) < i can deal with that...but i guess the price is still too good to be true.. If i cant get the to this price point in a 10' genesis now then i guess i have to wait (this was a spontaneous thing for me anyway)

..by the way the advertised price was 28K..

I dont know why you are scared of this car. Have you never checked out a used car before? I have sold all 5 of my previous Hyundai's private party and the 5yr 60K mile warranty goes with the car. I dont care who says different; they are wrong. If something is wrong with the car, take it back to the dealer. Its under warranty. One guy I sold my 04 Elantra too even took it back to the dealer and had the headlight bulb replaced under warranty.

Get your check from the credit union and take the 4hr drive. If you dont like it, dont buy it. The two credit unions I belong too will let you bring the check back with in 48hrs with no penaltys. I have done it before when a deal fell through once.
That price is well below book value. Check KBB

well your right.. and owned 18 thus far and i should know better.. I was asking one thing and everyone basically talked about the out of state thing like i was going to pay without seeing it or something. I guess i didnt clarify.. but ive decided (again) i will go through with deal if everything works out. I need to see this car in person first

You should go with the deal. I think that is a REAALLLY GOOD PRICE. You can also go and see the car anyways so it doesn't matter. I wish I had that price in my area Los Angeles. I would probably pick it up as well if I could get it at that price. Although I wouldn't get a red car, hate that color. But yeah if I could get a 4.6 2010 right now in my area for 25k, I would definitely go for it. FYI they got for around 4.6L 30k in Los Angeles, and thats for the 09. Dealers near me don't have used 2010s yet.

My personal feeling is that the one major advantage of the tech package is the upgraded Lexicon stereo system. There is a night and day difference with the stock radio. If you do not care about the radio then this is a great deal. I have a 4.6with tech and 8500 miles. No problems with the car. The V8 is wonderful.

The 6 is no slouch either. Since I don't listen to music much (I listen mostly to NPR and audio books) the radio doesn't matter to me. Love the acceleration and handling, and the mileage is better than I got with my Azera. Incredible value for the money.

Tried listening to NPR a few times but kept getting sleepy. XM country music keeps me awake and I can sing along. If you like to have a lot of choices then XM is worth the money. I have to say the price seems good but be sure to take a long test drive of 20 miles or so on all types of roads. Good Luck

update:well i drove down.. i had to... after talking to the dealer again ensuring it was like new, nothing wrong, like straight out the factory..I just had to see it.. now especially when my credit union said they wont let me take the check to the deal myself... what a waste.. car has been in an accident and they were covering it up.. Im sure someone would probably not notice but my uncle owns a body shop (ive worked with him plenty of times) so i know what to look for..so end out story.. wasted 8 hrs and a tank of gas.. could of been worse..

so now im going to wait to see how low the prices get when the 2012 come out.. and i want to see the new azera too..

It could have been 8hrs, a tank of gas and $25k+ so you are lucky you went to look at it. Did a Carfax confirm the accident? If something seems too low priced, there has to be a good reason. Looks like you dodged the bullet.

If you didnt go you would always wonder. Glad you noticed the bodywork.
I myself am waiting till spring to sell my Genesis private party and get something better on gas.

carfax came out clean. I dont trust carfax for that reason...Im looking again.. it seems a low mileage 4.6 (less than 20K) is going for $30-$35K.. I will wait. its a great car, but maybe after tax return comes in..

that is why you should buy new. a 2011 can be had for $36646 with tinted windows, cargo mat, and IPOD cable

that would be no question if i could afford it...but also paying 30K-35k for a used one is not a good deal to me..Ive bought many new cars and honestly i want to stick with used... Im hoping this would be a keeper for atleast 5 year this time but with my record you never know.. im willing to take a jab on depreciation not a kick to the nuts any more.
