Thanks daviderle...your advice on listening to the engine with hood open and comparing to my 2015 was very helpful, and you were absolutely on the money. Also, thanks to the advice from "homeofstone" on looking at the build date to avoid early model year cars.
Yes, I did pull a CarFax before deciding to go and see the car; and spent time looking at the documentation when i got there (after a long test drive by me, and my buddy along).
Until the last owner who bought in Dec 2018 (i have her purchase receipts where she bought from, a used car dealer in Hayward CA that has focus on higher end cars), history is verifiable and fine (based on Car Fax chronological history, and actual documentation in the car) until the seller who is the 3rd owner bought the car very recently; the 2nd owner was an older Asian gentleman from HongKong who lived in both places and used International Driver Licenses, that i found in the glovebox).
The person i bought from, the 3rd owner, she seemed genuine, found her via NextDoor, works at a hospital...but one can never know about what transpired in the last 4 months since she bought; only time will tell. Asked her in multiple ways why she is selling, and not sure I got the truth (but she did not change her story)....but before i bought it, i did my best to check the car out, long test drive, under the hood, under the car, etc (took a friend along to have two sets of eyes on things).
Tires have good tread, seem still original (Dunlops); but interestingly are labeled "M+S", so may have been changed, not sure? So far so good; put ~150 miles on it yesterday; I miss my 2015 features of blind spot detection, and Adaptive Cruise (wish there were
aftermarket options). BTW, the ride is much more stiffer and rougher than the 2015; but online threads indicate that that is expected.
Will keep my fingers crossed.
Next stop is to register it tomorrow; then get Oil/Filter change to Synthetic (current sticker shows from JiffyLube and says next change due at 17000 miles; i am not a fan of Jiffylube). Also, perhaps change other filters and fluids. One area i could use your guys advice on is if I should do the first set of changes at a Hyundai Dealer/Service Center, or just buy the parts (any pointers to online resources for OEM genuine parts and part#s will be much appreciated), and get a local well respected mechanic to do the needful?
BTW, love this forum....awesome group wisdom, and support! THANKS
