  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hennessey Hyundai Genesis Carbon Coupe - Click above for high-res image

John Hennessey is no stranger to extracting power from already quick cars and giving them a unique appearance. More recently, Hennessey has launched a Tuner School to teach others his craft and help keep the SEMA show floor populated with fresh creations.

The 14-week program teaches students about engine building, turbo/supercharging and testing, and for next week's SEMA show in Las Vegas, Hennessey had his students participate in the creation of a matte black Genesis Coupe wrapped in what appears to be carbon fiber.

However, the really good stuff is under the skin where Hennessey and his team of youngins boosted the Genesis' stock motor to 500 hp and 465 lb.-ft. of torque thanks to a single 66mm turbo, fuel system with higher flow injectors and a host of other upgrades. The car is claimed to accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds and passed the quarter mile traps in 12.5 seconds. Expect more info from the show floor next week, but in the meantime, make the jump for the official details.

Yes, its just a vinyl wrap.

What Hennessey is claiming is impressive and it shows that there is a developing market for the car, but Hennessey has a poor reputation for taking money and not delivering cars, or delivering time bombs on wheels. He's not someone you want to do business with.

That is a huge turbo - it will have a ton of lag, plus without knowing what was done to reinforce the engine, who knows how long it will last under that stress.

With the focus being on engine building, turbo/supercharging and testing, probably a 4

I could sure go for some XO right now....

Their Genesis is a v6. Not a duplicatible kit however. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v231/msauthority/SEMA/Hennessey/

They relocated the power steering reservoir, the windshield washer reservoir, fuse box, and battery. The numbers you see above are purely projections. According to the Tuner School representative at SEMA, they didn't have injectors nor a tune in the car.

Thanks for the pictures and glad to see the turbo is located under the hood.

I wished they had some hard numbers.
