  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Seriously? Another wrong color KDM airbag for my Cashmere interior...

Okay six months later my second airbag comes in, and this one isn't black, but gray. I saw the invoice the dealer received, and it was for a "brown" airbag. Two questions, please:

1) Specifically for those folks who have a cashmere interior and have swapped to the KDM airbag, does your airbag look like this (below)?

2) For anyone on this board who is kind enough to chime in -- Does this (below) not look like too much of a color difference to let go? (Yes, I know this is subjective but I respect the opinion of the people on this board, particularly those who also own a Genesis)

Bump. Please, guys -- Feedback appreciated! If I could get a few comments this morning I think it could be hugely helpful for me as I determine the next step in this saga...

I don't have a KDM airbag, but can say with some confidence that it does not come in cashmere. The airbag matches the steering wheel, not the seats/interior panels.

Think it looks great !:)

It's the same as mine & I have the cashmere interior...

ShoNuff, were my pictures visible to you? I'm not saying I want a "Cashmere"-color or light tan airbag. I'm saying I want one that matches the steering wheel color associated with the Cashmere interior.

The steering wheel color for the Cashmere interior is sort of a chocolate brown. That's the color I'd like for the airbag, but what I received doesn't have even a hint of brown. I'm starting to think that maybe there isn't a KDM airbag in my color. If the correct airbag doesn't exist, then I suppose I'd rather roll with the "H" but at least have a uniform color.

Again, my concern isn't a matter of slight shade, but an entire absence of brown color in this airbag. (Reference pics)

Once more, *please*, feedback appreciated from members of this board. I feel I need to make a decision about how to proceed on this by 5PM EST today without seeing the window of opportunity close for a return/exchange...

Thanks in advance.

I PM'ed Waki, and it turns out he didn't replace his airbag but instead only used the emblem cover for the "H". So, in case anyone interprets his comment to indicate that my KDM airbag is the same color as his and thus that it is the correct color although with some contrast to the wheel (as I did, initially), I just wanted to clarify here that he doesn't have a KDM airbag at all.

Something else just occurred to me -- Is it possible that the steering wheel color for the Cashmere interior changed from 2010 to 2011? This could lead to me getting the wrong color just because the car is so new...

Okay, last picture from me. I think this is probably the best example of my problem. If I'm not going to get much feedback on this at this forum (which I love and respect), at least I hope it's an example for others of what not to settle for.

That blows, man... there is NO WAY I would accept that much of a difference in color.

Kinda scary, as a KDM replacement would've been in my near future - since I'm getting black, and that's probably a more common color, I'd probably be okay.

Still... it's not a good sign from a business perspective. Hope you get it resolved soon. I'd get on the phone, and try to get up the chain, 'cause that's just not acceptable in my opinion.

GOOD LUCK.

The color that you want is called Grey/Beige. I had the same problem once.I traded with someone on this forum who needed a black airbag cover. My interior is also cashmere.

Thanks a bunch for the input, guys. Makes me feel more confident that I need to put my foot down about it.

Kayroe, do you have a pic of yours installed? It would be AWESOME for reference if I could have a good picture of the proper KDM airbag installed with the cashmere interior. I've been searching all over the forum and the web and can't find an example of it...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Where are you getting this thing from? If you are going through a dealer, have you considered getting it yourself from some place like KDMStuff? (http://www.kdmstuff.com/shop/step1.php?number=2727) Might even be cheaper.

For colors, they show black or beige. No brown.

I tryed to upload the picture but the best ones are 4 MB files which won't upload to this forum. You may want to send me your email so that I can send them to you that way.

(Kayroe check your pm)

Thanks everyone for input. Further input from the community here at GO greatly appreciated. (?) Such as for example, which of you here have replaced her/his airbag with KDM and how many have had great/not-so-great/failed encounters with vendors/dealerships in terms of such transactions/arrangements/visits. (?) I was on this board for a few months before I purchased last Oct, and I can promise that this board had a strong influence on my purchase. I respect the opinion of everyone here, and would greatly appreciate any additional opinions offered in particular by actual Genesis Owners here with KDM modications...

MINE IS PERFECT!!!! NOT AT ALL LIKE YOURS.......... Mines says genesis on it ?? and is the same color as the wheel. I would post a pix but in the shop, broken fuel pump..
No way would I keep that !!!!
I WILL POST A PIX ON WED. OR THURS. WHEN I GET IT BACK,
GOOD LUCK

So many thanks to Kayroe! Based on the photo he e-mailed, I've put the two images side-by-side for comparison/contrast (below). I don't think anybody would try to argue that I have the correct/optimal airbag after seeing this. Thanks again!

I'll ask again... are you buying this through a dealer or via the web?

Sorry, my man -- I figured the question was rhetorical. I'm buying through a dealer in theory, though in practice it's much more like I'm having to take care of the logistics myself. This is the second airbag we've received that is the wrong color for my car, and it has taken over six months to even get the second incorrect one. Since this airbag along with other badges (front/rear/wheels(V8), all received and installed) was part of a package I purchased along with the car, I don't see ordering this directly myself as option -- If for no reason other than principal. I suppose I could just ask for a refund from the dealer for the airbag and then apply that toward my own purchase, but I don't see that as sufficient considering all of my time/energy/patience wasted over the last six months. I did offer about two months ago to take a refund on the entire purchase price of the package ($500) whereby they'd be eating the cost of the front/rear/wheel(V8) badges and procure the airbag on my own, but that offer wasn't entertained. If I had to try to quantify how much I've been inconvenienced by this process at this point, I'd put the number closer to $1,000. Still trying to figure out how to recoup some of that, regardless of whether they eventually are able to get me the correct airbag.

Ah, ok then. I wasn't aware you rolled this cost into the purchase of the vehicle. My suggestion to get one yourself isn't really a good one, then. I wish you luck and hope it all works out in the end.

Actually, maybe you could point them to KDM Stuff to get the airbag module. Worth a shot, and has to be better than whatever third-party they are currently using.
