  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

auto set up of fm stations

Hi all. New member here. Just acquired 2010 3.8 w/ prem nav. After 2 days I love it with a few exceptions. The audio doesn't compare with my Bose system on traded in Altima and I can't figure out how to set up the preset stations for my FM stations. The screen shows an "Auto Store" button where the manual shows a "Auto Preset" button. Every time I hit the darn thing it resets all my stations. Any help?

Also, anyone have any thoughts on improving the sound of the system. I have all the settings (base, mid, hi) at max and it still sounds 'tinny' and under powered even at high volume?

Other that this, I love it so far.

Unless you think there is lack a bass (which some has complained about compared to over-bassed systems found in many cars) it should sound excellent. If not, there is probably something wrong with it. Make sure you are listening to a high quality source material (definitely not XM or FM radio). Do you have any really good sounding CD's?

Are you sure that you have the upgraded Lexicon 17 speaker sound system in your 3.8. I was under the impression that in 2010, the premium sound system only came in the Tech package which I have. The difference in sounds is night and day. One of the reasons that I bought a tech package was do to the superior sound of the upgraded Lexicon sound system that only came with the tech pkg.

I'm sorry but IMO there is no OEM Bose system that can even begin to compete with the Lexicon 17 speaker system.

For the radio presets on the touchscreen NAV...

Tune to the station you want, then touch and hold the preset button you want to set until it is stored for that preset...

Also, you can download the manual from Hyundai if you do not have one...;)

Night and day between Lexicon 14-Speaker system and Lexicon 17-Speaker system on Tech Package? I will not dispute that the 17-Speaker system sounds great, but I never heard anyone say that the 14-speaker system is worse than a Bose system on a Nissan Altima, unless there was something wrong with the Genesis sound system.

The premium nav option includes the touchscreen nav system, backup camera and 18 inch wheels, along with a 14 speaker lexicon system. I'm guessing there is a differnce in the electronics as well as 3 more speakers on yours.

Yeh, I got that part figured out. Still confused by the difference between actual nav screen and picture in the manual. Thanks

The main difference between the 14-speaker system and 17-speaker system is basically that 17-speaker system has true discrete 7.1 home theatre type of surround sound electronics to play DVD and DVD-A source material recorded as such.

The 14-Speaker surround system is two-channel stereo that has electronics that simulate surround sound. The 17-speaker system also does this for stereo source material (since the vast majority of music that most people have is in stereo format, not recorded in 7.1 discrete surround sound).
