  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Subbd, tried to get BTR interested in the 4.6 at their upcoming event in NC, but their guy will only do 3.8 Sedans.

Keeping those fingers and toes crossed...:D

Hey, what part of NC? I have a 3.8? And whatever things done I assume (prob dumb question) will void my warranty??

I love to get my 3.8 done also, but I think I had a tech at my dealer state that when they hook up their computers, first thing it does is check the software checksum to see if anything's been changed.

In that case, get a separate ecu for your car.
Swap it out when pay a visit at your local mod unfriendly dealership.
My coupe has a dyno-tuned ECU that has been in the car for years and no one (local Hyundai service repair) ever complains about it.
So it's a YMMV thing.

BTR says their tune cannot be detected and there a number of tuned Coupes running around on BTR tunes that have had warranty work done without the dealer mentioning anything about a tune, that seems to support that statement.

Big Tuning Event for Coupe sibling near Ralerigh, NC

I posted it over the General column but it got moved to the Coupe forum where no one bothered to read it.
So here it is again in this forum where it may get some interest.

The tuning (and meet) will take place in the weekend of Feb-7th and 8th in Garner, NC.
The tuners are from BTRcc which is very well known for their work.
Realized that this is for the coupe clans but the sedan enthusiasts may join to see or learn how the coupes are dyno-tuned and so forth.
I plan on going with my sedan (since my coupe is back in Texas) with the idea just to hung out and have fun.

Can't do this one. Weather for Saturday is forecasted for mid 40's and sunny, probably a little cooler up in the mountains. Do they do it again in the fall?

Are you going to see if they would tune your Rspec? I am in Raleigh, but I have plans this weekend...

No idea but I doubt it.

Nope, I don't wanna be a guinea pig.:D
Just hung out and watch them tune the coupe siblings.

I am sure this has been mentioned elsewhere, but there is no tuning available for the R-Spec or for that matter, the 4.6 or even the 3.8 Sedan at this stage!?

This is because none of these three types of ECUs have not been cracked by anyone (as of yet ;))...

Correct but I do know SFR and/or BTRcc can tune the 3.8 GDI coupe engine which is the "same" exact engine used in the sedan.
But to date for whatever the reasons might be, the tuners are not able to touch the sedan's ecu. Whether it is the economy (not enough return in dollars) or the technicality of it, I do not know why. but I will ask Jesse (BTRcc tuner) when I meet him this weekend.

If i am not mistaken, the 3.8 sedan uses a different CPU/ECU than the coupe.

As to what you may find regarding the V8 tune, after much inquiry, the bottom line is that it just has not been done to date. I know nothing of what they have in the works ;) , but i imagine that they are looking into their options with the V8, as i have heard that it is a desire of theirs to mod. As of now however there is nothing out there for V8 owners, and there may never be.

Cracking the ECU is not an easy process, nor is re-mapping it. Even if it gets done, the results may not make for a stable product that offers any real performance gain. I have no desire to plug in an ECU that will give me +20 to +50HP and have it be detrimental to the longevity of the engine. I do know that BTR shares that point of view with all their tunes and would not release such a product, which is why i said 'stable product'. Sadly, we may never see a viable solution...but here's to hoping, right

Tailwalker, whats in the pipeline? I have seen you make statements like this before, whats up? No anyone that can make us a full CAI? :grouphug:

Oh, I just like to speculate on things. :D

Insofar as a CAI, i know that someone posted a link on all the products necessary to fabricate one yourself, with the links and costs. You can build one for roughly $200 without the heat shield. I also read that R2C will be putting a complete intake kit out shortly, but i do not know the pricepoint for that.
