  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Congrats. Enjoy your new whip.
The lineage of the word "whip" in reference to a vehicle is a rich one. You probably didn't know that, since it's become a commonplace idiom. We use the term all the time to sound younger than we are, and as we know "what the happs." But the truth is, unlike much of what today's youth say, whip actually has depth, meaning, an etymology—and people have been using it in this context for decades. Imagine that. "

Congrats! Would love more pics without filters, especially the interior!

Sharp. Never owned a black car but when they are clean and shiny, they look great.

Looks really nice! Side and interior shots would be good!

Profile looks good in black, the rear hips remind me of my dad's Volvo S60 that he had 10 years ago. A chameleon of a car like that.

Good call on the brown interior, with the black that will look really rich.

Say Hello to Genny!

I had a 2013 Volvo S60 T6 AWD and quite liked it. That 300 hp 325 lbft turbo in line six was a pleasure to drive. The new 2019 T6 was on my short list this year (beautiful interior) but they just did not have the car available in time. Plus the G70 3.3T engine was more compelling.

Thing I remember most about it was the cruise ship like turning radius. :-D. That and the great engine and seats.

Day 2 Observations - Part A:

First, it was raining yesterday so not the best day for a new car pickup. Second, as soon as I began merging onto the highway (80kmh / 50mph), I felt a vibration. Called the dealership as soon as I got home and talked about wheel balancing. They did ask me what the tire pressure display so I decided to check this morning on cold tires. Sure enough, all four were around 32-33psi. Door jamb label says 36 front, 39 rears. I grabbed my power inflator and pumped those puppies up. Took it for a test drive and it’s better. But still rougher than what I expect from a luxury car and rougher than I remember from my test drive. Need to drive for a few days to assess before taking it in.

Oops...forgot this is a Canadian car. No brown in the USA.

LOL! That in line six surely limited how far that rack could turn! It seldom caused any real issues but feeling that wheel lock a few degrees sooner than you would expect was truly barge like!

Winters on it when you picked it up? Could be the rushed the tire swap. I can get 10% off from Genesis in Burnaby when I buy for tires and accessories which I might do to save a few$ but I kind of want to just have them give me the tires so I can take it to a good tire shop locally and just pay for the high speed mount and nitrogen fill and know it was done right. I sometimes wonder if all the dealerships have the right kit for that.

Hey, thanks. It’s a 3.3T Dynamic AWD. Not the same limited edition Dynamic that you guys got, just the trim below Sport. So basically, everything except no: LSD, HUD, Qi charging, Nappa leather, adaptive suspension, multi view, 19” wheels. Sport seems to be the most popular trim in Canada (at least that’s what the dealer said) but it’s $5500 more expensive.

Pricing is fixed and set by Genesis Canada up here. All prices include freight and PDI and cars come with bundled services for 5 years: At home service, warranty, roadside assistance, map updates, maintenance, courtesy vehicle.

The 3.3T Dynamic AWD fixed price is $52,000 but because this is a fleet vehicle, Genesis Canada gives a small discount.

Sorry man...I realized afterwards you’re Canadian. Makes more sense.

Leafs toasted Pittsburgh...and Calgary is killing it in the 3rd :)

Nope just the OEM Michelin Primacy all seasons. Not nitrogen. They said it passed PDI but could have been affected by the temperature. At the end of the day, this luxury stuff is new to Hyundai so I do not have really high expectations. The tech might have just finished an Accent oil change lol! I’m kinda half joking but I knew what I was getting into with this car so am keeping my expectations low to begin with.

Leafs should have a good team this year. But it’s the Raptors people need to watch out for!

Day 2 Ovservations - Part B:

So I figured out how to cancel the Easy Entry chair movement. Gotta use the settings in the IP not the settings in the Infotainment touchscreen. Yeah!

- even without the quilted Nappa leather, the regular leather is quite nice, and I’m liking that caramel brown
- the poor fuel economy stories worry me so I’m starting off in Eco for a few weeks to see what I get before moving to Comfort or Sport
- break in is 1000 km, so I need to baby the baby for a bit anyway ;)
- the 20 spoke dark wheels actually look better in person than I thought they would and overall the car is definitely lower and wider than the competitors - nicely aggressive from some angles
- there’s a bit of protection film on both sides of the rear door and lower rocker panel, interesting that my Macan has this as well (look closely at the pic and you’ll see 2 sections of PPF)
- man, the trunk is small
- and definitely not a lot of rear toe room, lucky I’m short so raising the seat really really helps. A 6 footer should be able to sit behind me comfortably. Maybe.
- you get a cardboard box for the owner’s manual. Looks nice but since it’s not leather or leatherette, it got wet in the rain - not cool. Also, no compartments for business cards or credit cards...also with both English and French books, the box cannot fit all the manuals. Easy fix, my car is now unilingual.
- not sure I like that enhanced engine sound, gonna keep it real so I switched it off, at least for now
