  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I trade cars about every year around 25,000 miles. (23,000 now). So, I began my shopping. Strolling the Cadiallac lot for a CTS-V sedan, I somehow got strapped in the CTS-V coupe by this beautiful blonde sales rep. "Who am I to say no?"

556 supercharged horsepower is very convincing! So are those yellow 6 piston brakes! Funny though, we ran out of gas after one fun pull down a back road. Neither of us had cell phones. I was suddenly 16 again remembering this idea with my first girlfriend. But, it didn't take long for the sales rep in her leopard skirt to stop the first and only car that drove by. The dealer brought us gas and I was finally able to finish my test drive.

I had forgot to close my Rspec electronic exhaust valves after I arrived at the Cadillac lot. They were wide open. When the sales manager went to drive my car and get a quote for me, he was shocked by the sound of open headers when he started it up. He loved it. When he returned back to the lot, all the salesman walked out to see the Rspec. When I showed him the switch for full "stock quiet". The sales manager offered me my $35,000 payoff right on the spot. He said he had to have it. Pretty cool when your Rspec steals the show surrounded by CTS-V's & Escalades.

Somehow, I could not part ways with my Rspec or afford the $73,500 CTS-V coupe. I was looking for a used one anyway. :)

***EDIT*** Almost forgot best part to this story. The Cadiallac GM threw me keys to another 2013 CTS-V with 10 miles on it and said drive it for the weekend and take car by my shop to see if I can build a "electronic exhaust cut out" for it! Took the wife out to a Thunder game and drinks in the CTS-V. Still didn't get laid....or I would of bought it. LoL.

Shopped Audi A7's, A6's, S4's, Panameras, ISF's, LS460's, & of course Equus. Guess I'm in the 2% crowd b/c those cars are ballers!

Panamera is a true Porsche lovers car....since we are the only ones who like its looks. I don't think most know it's really a 4 door sports car. AMAZING! But, optioned up like I want....it's out of my wifes approval range.

Just sold my 1st Porsche 911 SC Targa. :(

That is a sad day. I bet that car went for a pretty penny.

And yes, the Panamara does really only appeal to those who know Porsche and love what they do. It is a purely luxury interior with a beast under the hood! And of course German suspension, brakes, steering, and handling. Can't beat it for the price lol.

Bentley Continentals are just really really heavy status symbols IMHO.

This thread is useless without pictures of the sales rep.

Did you say optioned up?

Like this?

No big disposable income here. But I do have a $550/mth car allowance for work. I try and stay around that.

Alright- love the "worthless w/o pic of sales rep" quote. I am passing back by there tomorrow. That would be funny.

That Panamera was optioned up for real......

I wish Hyundai made a better Audi competitor with new updated nav and driver adjustable shocks etc.

Pic of blonde sales rep. Just for you sick forum guys. Love it! :D

She said she would do it only if I took it with her....sorry. Not her best look in pants. The skirt was much better. Good sport.

As a former CTS-V owner, it is a hell of a car. It also broke down 5 times in six months so I got rid of it. Mine was an ebay purchase, so not sure what happened to it before I got it. The power was significantly better then the Rspec, and handling as well. I went back in to consider trading my 2012 3.8 for an R-Spec, and after noticing the interrior was near identical to my bottom of the line Genesis, the power felt just marginally better. I know that the Mod has not updated the performance numbers on the 3.8 since the HP bump, but in actuality, the Rspec just feels very good, not great. I do have to consider that the upgrade from an Rspec to a CTS V may not feel like too much of an upgrade, the same way a 3.8 does not feel like much of a jump to Rspec. If it were my money, I would wait to see what 2014 brings to the new Genesis.

That was great insight. Thanks. I was not considering any coupe as it does not offer my wife's request of 4 doors. Also, the big plastic buttons and switches found in every GM car still screams cheap. However, the CTS-V has impressed me with its other higher quality bits. When my wife approved me to get a coupe, the options opened up across the board. The CTS-V coupe would be something different and fun. The CTS-V sedan or wagon would not be so much different. I love my Rspec and have been constantly reminded how all of our options that come standard (adaptive cruise, lane departure, etc..) is very impressive for the price. I am definitely hot for the 2014 Genesis, but am going to try and buy cars used rather than 1st off the assembly line. I put to many miles on a car each year. The CTS-V market is full of new 2011's discounted to $50k down from $72k. That's worth looking into in my book.

I have fallen for another 4 door though through my search. The Mercedes C63 AMG sedan. 2010's are $50k under 15k miles. 6.3 V8 450hp. Anyone have experience with these?

Sorry you CTS-V experience was not good. Appreciate you sharing it was eBay purchase. I am a Hyundai fan. Equus in the family and definitely replacing my wifes van with a Hyundai soon. ;)

I was blessed to drive a 2011 C63 last summer. My buddy works for MB and brought one home for the weekend. I had the car for about 2 hours. This car is a monster! Aside from outstanding handling and exhaust tones, the power is incredible. To me, it felt more like a 500 hp car than 450hp. Low 12 sec car.
Very nimble and very solid. Completely different league.
Main drawback: this car is very thirsty. You will go through a full tank of gas like there is no tomorrow. Gas mileage is really bad. Not as bad as Caddy CTS-V though :)

If you're going to spend in the area of $100K on a car, I'd definitely go for the Nissan GT-R

Ha! I'm a sucker or the C63 and always have been. That's what a factory exhaust should sound like on a performance sedan! Seems the journalists call it a burnout machine often, but rip on it for poor handling constantly. I have just heard the C63 will now have an AWD option:)
