Side view mirrors holding their position

I believe everyone is having this isuue and it just isnt a huge one that people notice. I also think people are blissfully unaware of this feature on their cars since its nothing but a sentence in the owners manual like "oh by the way, your mirrors can tilt based on how you have them set" lol

I guess we are the few that actually use their mirrors as intended. I have mine setup exactly so I see everything when driving and scanning as youre supposed to. I see this as a huge safety issue! So on long road trips, I have to adjust them because after 200+ miles, they are pointing a lot lower and thus useless in providing safety when driving.

What makes this really weird is after they replaced the module, it did work. But then after a few weeks, went back to its normal, broken self.

Mine dont drop an amount to make them unsafe. They just drop an amount where I realize I can almost see my tire and then I adjust. My drop may take about a weeks time (about 300 miles) so that makes sense to me.

I have only my passenger one set to tilt right now. I do not tilt my drivers one and in the winter, I dont have either tilt. Its a game I tell ya

Any dropping is really a safety issue. You having to adjust your mirrors while driving in its own is a safety issue. I drive about 100 or so miles a day and thats not including weekend trips, thats just for work. So I really notice it then.

That is a lot of miles. I usually drive 300 a week and then every other weekend or so will put 500 miles on her in 2 days

I am facing something similar. Car has under 500 miles.
Monitoring & trying to understand.
Nothing involved is rocket science. Soon we will see a TSB or recall.
But, in the meantime, this is a risk.
Split second decisions are made based on mirrors observation.
No time to readjust should the driver find them "looking" at the floor...
For now a am TOTALLY alert and considering the resource as available with limitations. Driving accordingly and self limiting the use of some functionality.

I thought this was only a 2015 issue.
This weakened my convictions...
I never faced this w/my 2012.

I am having this issue on my 15. I average 450-500 a week. I notice it mostly after I have used reverse with the tip-down enabled about 3 or 4 times. I back up at least twice a day - often times more. Because of this, combined with the tilting down too far when going into reverse to be of any use - I have actually disabled the tip-down.

Got in contact finally with corp again. They are replacing both mirrors completely, not just the module. They will also be sending mine out to be "tested"...whatever that means. I keep referencing this thread to them to try and tell them this isnt an isolated issue. I am waiting to hear back from them on when they will receive the new parts as they have to be painted to match my car as they are 100% new.

I recommend anyone else having this issue to contact corp as well. Only way they will see this is a serious issue is having all with this issue contact them and get it worked out.

Took my car in yesterday and was given a 2015 Ultimate loaner. Low and behold, it has the same exact issues. This shows that its a bigger issue. I am going to call corp and tell them this info as well and see what they say.

Im giving this repair one last try, then Im filing for lemon law. Im just surprised more people havent reported this or filed lemon law on it. This is a very serious issue.

I also have this issue with my 2015 3.8 Tech. I've turned off the mirror from tilting down when selecting reverse. It only affects my driver's side mirror. I use the auto fold feature all the time and that does not seem to cause the problem.

I've reset the memory a few times and so long as the car is still on and I then manually adjust the driver's side mirror out of the memory setting...hitting the memory setting will take it back to the correctly remembered setting.

If I turn the car off and then turn the car back on, change the position of the mirror manually, and then hit the memory recall button it will position the side mirror lower than was set.

It is a weird issue.

That's ridiculous. No car HAS to come with the tip-downs. If using it causes what you think is a safety issue & is lemonable - just turn it off. Then the mirrors stay put and you have to put out a half-ounce of effort to back up.
