Look I don't know what to tell you and I'm not going to argue the point past this post but you're getting bad information. Go to
www.bavauto.com (BMW parts specialist) and punch in this part number 63 21 7 162 862 The bulbs you're saying would fit in the car don't even have the same base and wouldn't fit first of all. Second of all it doesn't take 10-15 seconds for an HID to warm up unless you are using some super cheap bulb from China that I'm not aware of. They come on with close to full brightness instantly and it only takes a few seconds, if that, to come the rest of the way up. They are 3 times as bright as halogens and last 10 times longer. (my car has a Phillips HID kit in it, my friends is all OEM) I flash my HID high beams all the time, I use my HID low beams as daytime running lights and have only had to replace them once in 7 years. My high beam HID's are still fine and my car has 120k on it. I posted the email from Hyundai corporate saying their 2015 Gennys are coming with BOTH high and low beam HID but apparently you know more than the manufacturer does. Also there are many different sized HID bulbs. They are different lengths to fit each manufacturers needs. a 9005 or H7 just refers to the size and length of the bulb. You can get HID replacements in virtually any size. Manufactures specify what size they need for OEM HID's based on optimal beam pattern and available room inside that particular headlight.
I see someone knows nothing at all about automotive lighting.
1. Yes, the part you linked is a D1S bulb. But that's not for high beams. That's for the low beams..... But I suppose even BMW part diagrams are also wrong and that you know more than a BMW parts department, or even BMW period does.

#9 is clearly an H7 bulb and even labeled as such. Only H7s have that little tab.
Also notice the lack of electrode post next to the bulb, a required part on HID bulbs.
2. And yes, it does take 10-15 seconds. Even OEM grades. Just because they are done changing color sooner it doesn't mean they they are at operating temperature..... Same as when your car's coolant temp shows it's warmed up, the engine still has far to go before reaching temp.
3. And yes, rapid on/off cycling on cold HIDs is most certainly bad for them. It causes undue wear and tear/stress on the ballast, the igniter, the bulb's electrode (same concept as
spark plugs over time, the gap widens. But faster).
4. And the Genesis may have hi/lo HIDs. That automatically implies bixenon headlights. Which is great if true.
5. Neither 9005 nor H7 are available in HID sizes. These are purely halogen. Any 9005 or H7 HID bulbs are just rebased
aftermarket bulbs. Ones that are 50-state illegal at that (all kits are). The ONLY real/OE sizes that HIDs come in are D bulbs (D1R, D2S, D4C, etc). All other sizes are illegal
aftermarket kits.
Please stop posting misinformation. Everyone will be better for it.
Thanks.
