  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Second Generation SiriusXM losing subscription when the power is off

I'm just noticing this now, but it seems like every time I shut off the car, SIRIUS jumps to the preview station. All of the presets and subscription options are still there, so I don't think it's the same issue. Anyone else notice this?

I have read posts describing your problem so you are not alone. I'm not sure whether it is a separate issue or a precursor to the problem I had. I would have it checked out since it is a change from how it used to work. When I took mine in for service, I told the service manager that the Genesis forum had several reports of SiriusXM problems. He seemed to listen. Good luck.

What you need is to update the amp and the radio, that's a bug fixer software for that call the dealer and ask for the current software.

I started having the "No Subscription" issue a few days ago so today I brought it to the dealer. They did a diagnostic check and said the radio needs to be replaced. Per the parts department it is on backorder and I am #31 on the list. Has anyone else had to wait for a new radio? If so how long did it take?

I had my stereo head unit replaced due to the XM problem. It took 6 weeks to get the part only to find out it didn't work either, so then another 6 weeks.

Thanks for the reply! Was it on backorder? If so how many people were ahead of you?

Fortunately, my dealer took a new radio out of a car on the lot. I got my car back the same day. Since then everything has worked great. Make sure the dealer removes and reinstalls your SD map chip from your current radio. The replacement radios do not have one.

Has anyone had this issue (S/XM radio not recognizing subscription each time car is started) fixed by not having the head unit replaced? Mine is now doing the same and the dealer told me to call S/XM first since it is their service. I told them others have reported having this issue and from what I can tell, replacing the head unit is the only fix. The guy I spoke with at the dealer (service department) hasn't heard of this and wasn't exactly willing to take ownership of the problem or find someone to look into it. The refresh signals work until I turn the car off again. I'm planning on making another trip to the dealer to push the issue while it's still under warranty.

Edit:

Found another thread...any feedback is still welcomed. Thanks.

I called siriusxm first and they went through the refresh process and said to bring it to the dealer when that didn't work. The dealer hooked it up to their computer and it quickly picked up an error code from the radio so they ordered a new one. They were on back order but thankfully it only took about a week. The issue I have now is that my backup camera lost the top down feature and shows additional lines. There is another thread on here about someone else that had their radio replaced and the wrong software was used so they had to get another unit. Everything else is working great so I haven't brought mine back yet.

I'm currently using the 3 month trial, or at least trying to. Since I haven't played around with SXM I can't say for certain I will subscrube. That said, Im not sure if it's worth having the dash disassembled to replace the dead unit which could possilbly lead to other issues. But figured it should be fixed while under warranty because it's way too costly to foot the bill myself down the road should I ever change my mind.

Exact
same thing happened to me last year - the replacement radio fixed the Sirius issue but then the backup camera had the extra lines and no look down view. Someone here said the camera issue was a software issue that could be fixed without another head unit replacement - not sure though?

Thanks, I will see what I can find out at the dealer when I pick up the mud guards. If they are going to swap it out, I assume they do it right. I also assume the replacement unit is brand new and not refurbished?

Yup - it was a new unit and, since they were backordered, it took 3 weeks to arrive! Unfortunately, the replacement head unit just traded off one problem for another one!

Are you able to disclose or was it just the parking lines? That's my only concern, fixing a minor issue and potentially taking on larger problems. Everything else seems to be working as advertised, so just worried about stirring the hornet nest.

Mine was a new unit as well, but the dealer did say that was only because no refurbished units were available. If they have a refurb they will use it.

Have you asked the dealer about the camera issue being fixed with software? Do you recall who said this can be done? I am debating just leaving it alone since I do not want to take the chance of ending up with a refurb unit.

If that's the case, I'm not sure the sat radio is enough to warrant tearing the dash out to get a refurb. Between the 30 some gig in the car and streaming through Bluetooth, I can do without sirius. I'll still see what the dealer has to say and/or offer the next time I need to get service.

It was just the appearance of the extra lines and the loss of the look down view. Otherwise the new head unit worked fine and fixed the "forgetting Sirius subscription" issue.

No - that head unit is gone so did not ask about the software fix. I can't find the thread, where that was mentioned?

I am the OP on this thread and have had my replacement head unit for a few months with no further issues. As I previously reported, my dealer took a new head unit out of a car on the lot so I had mine fixed with a new unit the same day. My original unit had a single set of lines in the backup camera with the look down feature as a selection on the touch screen. With the replacement from the car on the lot, I too now have the dual lines and no look down option. Personally, I much prefer the dual lines. I never used the look down feature. I guess it is just a matter of personal preference.

Look down view is VERY handy when backing into a parking spot with a concrete stop or other low obstacle behind the car. You just push the DIS rotary controller down to switch view as you get into the spot to make the last few feet safer (i.e., avoid scraping your rear bumper). I wish I had a front camera with a look down view when pulling nose in into similar spots!
