  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Slip_Angle's G70

So does the 20spokes only come on the Dynamic?
Been trying to figure that out... Doesn't help that most the US listings on cars.com are wrong. Hard to tell which models have it.

In Canada, yes. Not sure about US spec cars

Weird, our Canadian site makes the brochure available part way into build and price but doesn't appear on the US site. Ours lists which packages get which wheels

So, now that you've driven it for a few days, what are your thoughts on the G70 compared to your old Cadillac ATS?

Congratulations, very nice! Now I am second guessing mallorca blue first the Silver but being in Delaware looks like I have plenty of time to make up my mind.

So, now that you've driven it for a few days, what are your thoughts on the G70 compared to your old Cadillac ATS?

The ATS was quite good in many ways and just "ok" in others. Handling wise, it was near the top of class. The 3.6 liter has 335 hp and is fun but closer to the bottom of the class when comparing performance numbers... between 5.2 and 5.5 0-60. I did like that the recommended fuel was regular 87 octane.. The transmission was inconsistent. Sometimes shifting harsh or herky jerky but under heavier acceleration it was a decent 8 speed. The ride was good but any pot holes would be felt like no other... Sometimes I thought the shock penetrated the shock tower... In terms of features the ATS has a fair amount and some that beat other manufacturers to the market. Cadillac had a remote start app like Genesis connect years ago, so that was really nice for winter. The ATS interior left a lot to be desired. It was decent but certainly bottom of the class. I thought the CUE infotainment was better than reviews said. It integrated with Android Auto well and had some nice features with no lag.

If you want a really good handling "drivers car", the ATS would deliver. It's lighter than the G70 as well.

Compared to the G70 (based on my first few days...)

G70 quality is much higher with an attention to detail that Cadillac can't match.
G70 is much more powerful as compared to the NA 335hp 3.6 AWD
G70 handling feels on par (Need more driving time without worrying about the break in period)
G70 transmission is better (Need more driving time without worrying about the break in period)
Interior space wise, the cars feel almost identical.

The G70 feels like it's in an entirely different class compared to the current ATS...however, the new CT3/4/5 (ATS replacement) will arrive soon and I expect Cadillac will have upped their game. I do expect those cars to have some serious performance but I'm not sure they will match the quality of the G70.

Tough call! The Mallorca blue is amazing. I just wanted to be a bit more understated and have always liked silver. It's a classy color with the right wheels and trim.

Nice. Thank you for the comparison!

GM's decision process baffle me with regard to interior design and layout. They start with ALL the right components, resources and capabilities to create something incredible. So they get the chassis just incredibly beyond reproach it's so good.. the engines are good.. ESPECIALLY the Turbo V6. The car designs are pretty damn nice. . then they f$%k IT UP with the tranny programming.. and the interior. I mean. Who in the hell approved these megafuckups. ? Whoever the panel of individuals are need to be re-assigned to raking rocks in the back of GM headquarters IMO. The CTS is much better but some of the ATS interior are just laughable.

What do you think of the ride quality of the G70?

My only experience was with the ATS but based on that I agree. My ATS was white with the black chrome package, which I thought was good looking. It had the dark chrome trim, dark 18" wheels etc.. really nice actually.. until you open the door and see the wood trim inside... really Cadillac!? I overlooked it because of the rest but man what a crazy combination.

Congrats on your beautiful silver G70! Silver is my first choice for all the reasons you mentioned. Thanks for sharing pics, really helps to see how silver looks in the wild and how it highlights the lines of the car!

Winter setup - Fast Wheels Bullzeye Black /w X-Ice

I ordered silver but the manufacturer accidentally shipped black. Genesis was on top of it and was going to send these back and have the silver the next week but I thought I would try them. Glad I did as I think they are a great contrast. As my GXM said, it looks sinister!

Pic is a bit dark but you get the idea for now..

Tint the windows, and the black wheels will match really well. I think silver wheels would be too much silver color, though it would match the chrome trim.

Those are 8.5" wide right?
How good/bad does the stretch look?

I believe so. No stretch.
Good to know. The PS4 had a visible stretch on the front 8" rim. But the X-ICE looks fine on my winter 8" width rims. Must be the more aggressive thread design that makes the stretch look less visible!

nice pictures! any reason why you forgo the diamond quilted leather seats?

I thought about it for quite some time but after much deliberation, I just thought the dynamic wheels and seats suited my style a tiny bit more. I did give up a few things not going with the sport but nothing that was top of list as a requirement.

Both trims are super nice
