So, now that you've driven it for a few days, what are your thoughts on the G70 compared to your old Cadillac ATS?
The ATS was quite good in many ways and just "ok" in others. Handling wise, it was near the top of class. The 3.6 liter has 335 hp and is fun but closer to the bottom of the class when comparing performance numbers... between 5.2 and 5.5 0-60. I did like that the recommended fuel was regular 87 octane.. The transmission was inconsistent. Sometimes shifting harsh or herky jerky but under heavier acceleration it was a decent 8 speed. The ride was good but any pot holes would be felt like no other... Sometimes I thought the shock penetrated the shock tower... In terms of features the ATS has a fair amount and some that beat other manufacturers to the market.
Cadillac had a remote start app like Genesis connect years ago, so that was really nice for winter. The ATS interior left a lot to be desired. It was decent but certainly bottom of the class. I thought the CUE infotainment was better than reviews said. It integrated with
Android Auto well and had some nice features with no lag.
If you want a really good handling "drivers car", the ATS would deliver. It's lighter than the G70 as well.
Compared to the G70 (based on my first few days...)
G70 quality is much higher with an attention to detail that
Cadillac can't match.
G70 is much more powerful as compared to the NA 335hp 3.6 AWD
G70 handling feels on par (Need more driving time without worrying about the break in period)
G70 transmission is better (Need more driving time without worrying about the break in period)
Interior space wise, the cars feel almost identical.
The G70 feels like it's in an entirely different class compared to the current ATS...however, the new CT3/4/5 (ATS replacement) will arrive soon and I expect
Cadillac will have upped their game. I do expect those cars to have some serious performance but I'm not sure they will match the quality of the G70.
