Smart Park Assist for MY16 Genesis?

I've been looking at a lot of KDM and EU Hyundai videos and see that SPAS (Smart Park Assist System?) is available on their models. What are the odds this will make it to the NA Genesis and not get passed up for the next Equus?

Hard to say, but there have always been features on the KDM version that are not available on the USA or CA versions, going back to first Genesis in 2009 MY.

There are a couple of features that people in the US (at least here on the forum) have been clamoring over. I doubt they're going to make any significant changes for MY16, but if they do I think features available in Canada are more likely (e.g. LED DRLs, V8 AWD). Canada and the USA have very different regulations than the UN regulations used by the rest of the world. Features already certified to meet CMVSS (Canadian) regulations probably also meet FMVSS (USA) regulations, while features only available elsewhere would require additional certification, testing, and possibly design changes.

I think the main reason why some KDM features don't make it to the USA is cost/pricing. HMA does not want to exceed a certain price for the Genesis, even on the Ultimate trim level. The KDM version with all options is much higher than the USA Ultimate trim level. With a Hyundai badge on the car, HMA only has so much pricing power available before they start to lose customers.

Also, not that many people parallel park their cars anymore. I would guess that I have only done it a few times in the last 15 years. I wonder if parallel parking is still part of the driving test to get a license (it was when got mine a very long time ago).

park assist wouldn't cost much, hell it can be had on a ford fusion, not that I care for it, i'm from northern jersey so i'm fine with parallel parking.. I would like the CAN-BUS update for the DRL's..I'm almost positive it's a simple change in the ecu that would make that happen

VAG vehicles are like that (Vw audi) A cable and software I was able to turn on many options on my touareg
