  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Smart Trunk Not Closing Completely

That's crazy. I've had two Genesis and the button closed the trunk when you hold it.
Uh yeah one of the first things I asked when I bought the G80.

Which is why it irritated me that the fob button didn’t do it.

Thankfully my Palisade Fob does close the tailgate.

How do you like the Palisade so far?
Love it.

Miss the turbos in the G80 sport, But for my needs now the Palisades is great, I can haul my bike, kayak, and some other gear.

I will say that I only have 1,400 miles on it. I have been cycle commuting since oct 2020, 6,500 miles on my bike.

Sorry I never posted my resolution. Life as a teacher is, shall we say, "distracting." I ended up replacing the latch mechanism. Flipping the striker over was not a long term fix. The "trunk open" light continued to come on. The new latch mechanism resolved the problem.

Thanks for your reply. I got a latch assembly about a year ago, I'm going to be replacing it soon. also, I realized, with this mechanism not working the trunk light stays on along with light on the dash, which probably drained a few batteries since.

Adjust the trunk bump stops so it lowers more. Takes 10 seconds. Little rubber twist bumpers on either side of the inner lid.

Same with the hood.
This seems to have solved this problem. Huge headache, would have had no idea but for your post. Thank you.
