  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So what kind of pricing did you guys/gals get?

so u got it for almost 2k under invoice your saying??

Not sure what invoice even is. I know that when I was looking at them before, dealers would only goto $33K. I saw it as they were giving me another $2K off from the other dealers and they gave me $4K more for my Benz than what I paid for it. I also got the state tax credit for my trade in amount.

Thanks,

my price was $37,700 for a 4.6 w./tech (incl. iPod cable and cargo tray+net), plus taxes, tags. price also included a no-charge powertrain warranty extension by the dealer to 20 years/200,000 miles and free oil changes for life. I would have paid higher for my preferred color combination, but at this price I could not refuse it. it was the only remaining 4.6 at the dealership at the time. very pleased with the car so far.

Fantastic price.

Cash?

Fantastic price.

Cash?

Basically, yes. I had $12K cash down and I have financed the rest with my credit union at 3.99% for 48 months. Dealer told me they could not touch that even though they have relationships with about 30 banks. Overall, I'm very happy with the deal and the car.

I must have a greedy dealer....

Loaded 4.6, Cabernet Red, with cashmere interior....
They do have the exact car I want....in stock

He told me a price of......

40,999 + TTL

I'm thinking I should be able to do a lot better.....

Any thoughts ?

Shelly . . . . . . . . where are you? I think that is high. Much better pricing out there. I have seen that same car for $38,800.

I'm in Weston, Florida.....

basically, Ft. Lauderdale....

This was at my closest dealer....

and I just asked for his best price....

really haven't started wheeling and dealing yet.....

Maybe when he sees I'm really serious, they will do better...

Gonna try some of the other dealers that are around here.....

My other option is a 2007 LS460 from a friend who takes really good care of his cars.... 28,000 miles..... for about 40,000.....

What to do ?????

and as a side note Moose.... I'm getting out of an M45 sport.....

So what should I do ?

Wow, I think I almost bought that car. A few weeks ago, I was looking for a 4.6 in Cabernet Red, with Brown interior. My dealer searched all over and found that one in FL. However, it was cashmere and not brown. Passed it up. Ended up with the Sapphire Blue with cashmere. Paid 38,500 for the 4.6 Tech, winged emblems, and the rubber trunk liner.

How ironic. I was looking at an LS as well before I jumped on my Genesis. Best bang for the buck in my opinion. I just wish I could have waited just a couple more months before purchasing mine. The prices have really come down a couple of thousand from what I paid. But I found the car I wanted, and I jumped on it. In this economy, there is no way to tell what is going to happen from day to day. The reason for dumping the M was that my wife would not drive it as it was too harsh of a ride. The Sport is really sporty on the M! She absolutely loves the Genesis.

What would I do? Tough one. But I think I would go back to that dealer once more and say here is the deal . . . . . I'll give you $$$ (somewhere in that 38K ballpark) right now. It that doesn't work, hit the road, and hit the web. You'd be surprised. You may be able to have the car delivered to you with all of the paperwork taking place online/fax. If that isn't appealing. Take the Lexus. Can't go wrong with either car in my opinion.

He's not giving you a firm number. Tell him you'll only consider offers at invoice or lower (remember, they're still making money about 1000 below invoice)

As with the Lexus... The LS is a beast, specially the new 460s. They're really, really nice. Play around with both and see which one you like the most.

Shelly, I know this won't be a popular suggestion on this forum, but I'd go for your friend's LS460. I have weighed a similar scenario for a few months and I'm leaning toward a used LS460. Sure the Genesis would be a brand new car, but 28,000 miles is really nothing in the scheme of things. When you compare the resale values the Lexus will always be worth way more. That said I don't think you can go wrong either way! Good luck!

I hope you didn't tell them that was exactly the car you wanted. I was able to get my dealer knock off another $900 just by saying I wanted him to trade for a different color combo, but if he gave me a price I couldn't refuse, I'd be willing to consider the one already on his lot...and he did. :D

In the end, especially in this market, they want to get rid of what's already costing them money on a daily basis instead of waiting for a possible buyer who will fall in love with the vehicle and willing to pay a price premium. I wouldn't even consider buying from a dealer who's not willing to make a reasonable deal to move cars, because most likely they won't be around anyway for long to service it. That's just my humble thought process, BTW.

Good luck in finding your best deal!

Paid 32,380 for my silver 3.8 with premium plus. Car stickered for 36k, plus the dealer gave me 1k over what the other dealers were offering for my 740 I L. Pretty happy with the deal and car in general. Hyundai needs to step up their delivery of this vehicle, got more love buying my wifes civic, :)

Paid $38,900 for my Genesis 4.6; got the pricing through the USAA Car Buying Service. The dealer I got it from participates in the car buying service; I could get my Genesis for $800 under dealer invoice.

Shelly,
An 07 LS Lexus with only 28,000 miles is not even broken in. Comparing the Genesis to the LS Lexus is like a wanna-be major leaguer to a real major leaguer. That Lexus is in a league apart, comparable to the finest european sedans in any price category.

As someone else stated, the resale value of a Lexus LS is one of the best. The Genesis...who knows!

Not trying to knock the Genesis, I am a possible new customer as of next year when the lease in my 07 GS 350 Lexus ends.
