If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

yes i took up 2 spots. idc. last november i came down here and someone jerkoff scraped my yukon denali's rear bumper with their pos white rental and never left a note so i had to eat it (i've since lowered my comp deductible to $200 from the average $500 to cover damages like that should they happen again)

behind the picture to the left there are another 10-12 spots unoccupied, this was a short stop, overnight it goes over there....on an angle lol

Looks sweet. What window tinting do you have?

+1. I love the black on black! :D

Just got mine tinted this week with 3m......20% all around. If I had to guess based on the pictures I would say 35% on the front, 20% on the back.

20% in front is asking for trouble IMHO. At least that's what I was told a few weeks ago when I had mine done.
Don't know about Ontario, but in Quebec it's quite possible to get stopped.
Ended up with LLumar 38% metallic front sides, 15% metallic back sides and 15% non-metallic on the rear to avoid possible AM reception issues.
If I was to do it again, I'd go with 38% all around (black on black like the V8 pictured here). I find the lighter tint a bit classier, but to each his own.

That's the thing......it is very subjective in Ontario.....no exact limit other than to say "For the driver’s compartment, right and left,
no film can be installed that would substantially obscure visibility from the exterior". In fact the detailer at the Hyundai dealership where I had it installed drives his with 20% all around.

Quebec is the other end of the spectrum with 70% VLT on the front from what I have read.....heck factory "deep dipped" glass is not far from 70%. ;)

Are you concerned with being stopped using the 38% on the front?
How do you find the LLumar?
What is your Genny colour scheme now?

I will post some pictures in the next week when the weather improves and I can shine it up. :D

Genny is black on black with a charcoal tint. The LLumar seems to be good, no issues but will really only know this summer.
What matters most though is a good install, providing you don't use cheap film.
So far I've noticed that the metallic sides do cut down on glare a lot more than the regular non metallic film (3M) I've had on previous cars.
I am a bit paranoid about the 38% fronts in Quebec as I've only ever put 50% before. I open the roof if there is LE around :)
You are right btw, the law here is 70% front and any % anywhere else.

LOL on the LE statement......will see how it goes in Ontario with its "vague" requirements.
I thought about LLumar but got a good deal on the 3M at $240 for everything......hopefully it will endure, but regardless there is lifetime warranty on standard wear/non abuse.
Bought the Genesis new in October and stored it away for the first winter. Looking forward to the first spring and summer with the elegant and powerful beast.

25% all around. i leave the sunshade up all the time so the back may look a little darker but it's the same. i always had 18% on my cars/trucks and wanted something a little less "kiddish" looking with the dark tint. looks classy to me, during the day, elegant as opposed to a car that looks like at any second an ak will be appearing from a barely opened window lol.

i just got back from seeing Thor in Imax 3D..... Insane movie. excellent story line, acting was very good. favorite comic movie to date by far. it may sound silly but the story of this one is more believable than the hulk or iron man in my book. if you like those movies definately go, worth it..

also using regular gas and getting on it a few times tonight to get around some morons doing unexplainable maneuvers on the hwy, i definately notice a degradation of performance, doesn't have that oh sh** kick when it gets up and goes. i would suspct a much more than 10hp loss, that maybe peak but i bet the curve is much lower in other areas that count like every rpm below 6000 lol..

hey DJaxx, the windows appear different levels due to the HUGE amount of light coming in from the 'tard bus fron windshield. i though the same thing when i picked it up, almost had the windshield tinted to help but then thought i was going against the whole "scheme" i was trying to create...

I got the LLumar for $225 and had the clear bra done at the same time. Is your 3M film regular or metallic?
The only issue with tint shop warranties is whether they will be around to honour it, so choosing a shop that's been around for a while is always a good idea.
But if you got it through the dealer, that's another story I suppose.

Two spots? You're asking for it.

i was sweating pretty good while the wife got ready but it was all good. i once again parked on the side where it was only the genesis and a new tahoe. sucks you have to be like this with your property but if you like your paint and hate dings that's the price. because even if i were to park far away in one spot some crazy person will park their vehicle on top of mine lol.

this car having NO side moldings is just crazy. my Trailblazer SS had no moldings and it was always on my mind took 3.5 years to get it's fist ding. i really can't stand people that bang into other peoples cars. every time somone bangs into anothers car door or scrapes a bumper parking God should have their pinky toe broken. i feel that's a fair trade off. then afterwards, the person that was with them while they banged into the door says, "That's Karma. you dented that person's car and that's what you get." hey,I can dream can't I? lol

In my part of the world- if you took 2 spaces- your inviting a key scrape.

It's truly sad that people park their cars in two spots. I'm guessing this one can't walk by a mirror without checking himself out.

yeah, that's why i'm driving a hyiundai lol. had there been only a few spots left i would never do that. and as i stated it was for a short period of time in the middle of the day. maybe you live in a wonderful part of america where people respect other's property. let me know where that is i'll be sure to check it out. :welcome:

Where I grew up (in the city where parking spaces were at a premium), you were inviting a deflated tire or two.

and where i grew up (new york city) you never touched someone else's property without expecting a beating with any one of numerous weapons within arms reach. now a days someone (thing) is always watching so is it worth it to mess with someone's property especially when you can tell it was parked that far away, to keep others away?

how many of you "key" scraping pus*** are out there? i would never in a million years think to damage somone's property.guess alot of you guys out there haven't had to work hard (save) for your personal possessions otherwise you would understand how important one's things are to another human being. a little kid i can see, they're stupid and don't always know/understand the consequences, they don't think that far ahead but if i ever saw another adult doing that they'd pay for it.

i once saw some drunk a-hole key a brand new black lexus in seaside heights years ago. i called out to a cop writing a parking ticket and he locked the guy up. the guy told the cop that he did it because the girls that got out of it were changing their shoes while sitting in their car, feet on the gorund blocking the sopt he wanted to park in (next to it) so he parked somewhere else and walked over an keyed the whole car. i only saw a fender but the cop alked around and he did the whole car and hood lol.. how'd that work out? i love it when people get caught doing that kind of thing.

tony,

At the end of the day, you started this by inviting the idiots/"key" scraping pus*** out there (your words) to do some kind of damage to your car.

It is completely disrespectful of you to take 2 parking spaces...period!
If you can't understand that, than who's being childish here.

By taking 2 parking spaces, you're essentially saying "I park this way cause you idiots don't know how to open a door.
In other words you're calling everyone next to you an idiot! (Thanks)

It's not like your car is too big and you need to take 2 spaces.
On the other hand I completely understand a 500lb man taking 2 seats cause he's to f**cken big to sit in 1.

Peace

BTW
:welcome:

tony,

yep. i am fanatical with my cars (and most of my property) it's a biproduct of growing up the way i did. i have a friend who is worse than me so i guess that's why i don't notice any problems lol!!!
