I use a magic eraser, yes, that is what you think it is

thats the softest kind, don't use anything but the soft ones on paint. car wash soap in high concentration, rub rub rub, polish off anything left with a D/A, seal right away, wax as desired
I HAD LITERALLY TRIED EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF, EVEN WD-40 (yes, it is quite safe fore paint an is excellent at getting pinstriping off), then I tried the magic eraser. Holy crap, you will want to kick yourself, me, I couldn't, I want to kiss myself, good lawd, but even so I was fairly irritated no one told me this before. Mom had her G1 for 3 years prior to my trying the eraser, so believe me when I say, it was ON there, magic eraser got 90-95% of it off, polished the rest off, took all of 15 minutes per side
so this was all about my experience with the soot on the paint, but it will get it off the tips quite well too
I will post the earth shattering jaw dropping weasel kicking pics as soon as I find them, but i think they may be on an sd card in her car, so tomorrow maybe (she has the parisian blue? parisian grey? forget, its a bluish grey, but the color makes the before and after pretty impressive, as it would be on white for example)
