I think you are correct on that. Showed them to my wife and she already said we won't be getting one of those because of the way the seats look. I have a feeling those are the top trim but holding out hope they aren't and the pattern will be different on them.

I think that's exactly what the stitching looks like on the new G90... Not digging it much, but it won't be a deal-breaker.

I think it might be like in the current Q7.

It’s actually one big lid...but the split top is simply independent arm rests that slide forward and back for comfort.

That’s my guess anyway.

Interesting - does she not like the diamond stitch pattern (which is ubiquitous on luxury items, such as Gucci bags) or does she just not like how these seats look w/ that pattern (personally, I do like them for what they are)?

Guess there's no Bentley in her future? lol

I really think she was just turned off when she initially saw it and didn't even look closely enough to see that it wasn't diamonds but it was not worth pursuing. Got a chuckle from that - as being someone w/ an artistic background, artists like what they like and don't like what they don't like.

There are numerous seats w/ diamond-stitching or diamond-like stitching on just portions of the seat (even less than the example you showed), but I'm guessing those are out as well.

GV70 spy shots, including a look at the seats. The grill looks like the G70's style except bigger, which is interesting since I thought they stopped using it based on the G80, GV80, and G90. It could be a placeholder, but it seems odd to use the G70 one even as a placeholder when they could repurpose a GV80 grill instead. The seats look similar in style to the G70 as well, but they are different and look much thinner. I wonder if they're lighter weight or help with combined front and rear legroom.

Nothing new on the spy-shot front, but here's an interesting blurb regarding launch date for the GV80 from an interview w/ Fitzgerald.

The Genesis GV80 midsize SUV will arrive in the first quarter of 2020 in the U.S. market, with the GV70 compact SUV set for an early 2021 release date. But that's just the start of a slew of new products.

That differs from the June-July timeline that Raphael gave in an interview earlier in the year, but going w/ Fitzgerald since he's the boss (and this more aligns w/ the stated goal of launching models in other markets closer to the Korean launch).

Other interesting tidbits are that the Essentia and Mint seem more likely to happen and that should be seeing standalone dealerships starting to pop up in in the next 18 to 24 months.

About the standalone stores thing, here's an article illustrating Lincoln's struggles to get more of its franchisees to invest in standalone facilities.

I think the Essentia is still way far out. They haven't figured out the power train OR chassis, the most difficult parts of an EV, and they're basically starting from almost nothing for a performance EV. Then there's the supply chain, manufacturing, and everything else involving normal cars. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mint came first since the power train would be pretty straightforward and could take parts from the Kona EV. It seems the business case for the Essentia is green lit though.

Genesis Australia stated that the GV80 was delayed for their market from an early 2020 launch to later in the year (which further leads credence to the stated goal of shortening the time for overseas launches, even if they do end up getting delayed).

And since it was Raphael speaking, it was for the US market (don't know why he would speaking about the Aussie market).

Also wouldn't be surprised if the Mint came first as it's a higher volume model w/ a lot of ready-made parts already in the parts-bin (note Lexus also having debuted a small/city-car BEV concept - which is just digusting to look at compared to the Mint concept), but w/ regard to the Essentia, H/G have been working on a larger BEV platform and for the powertrain stuff, that's where the ownership stake in Rimac bears fruit.

But the first Genesis BEV may end up being the GV70 (likely will be given a diff. nomenclature).
