  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

If this is a 2021/2022 facelift, when will they do a full model refresh?
Usually when Hyundai comes out with a refresh it takes about 3 years or so for a new generation.

I'm getting my G70 delivered next Saturday and leasing for 5 years... You think the timing will work out to get the next gen model?

My first Sonata was 5 years, the first Genesis was 6 years. They have a lot going on with 2 SUVs in the works too.

If the G70 continues to sell well enough for them to make a second gen model then yes and you wouldn’t be getting a first model year of a new gen. But then again a lot of times people change there minds.

True but every company is accelerating SUV’s as the market is huge for them.

Right, and getting the SUVs going may postpone the next model of the slower selling sedans.

Yeah basically. Look at how Hyundai released a refresh of the Tucson last year and already a new is coming next year.

This is actually very reassuring. I've only ever been interested in sport sedans in this segment (First a 3 Series, then a TLX and most recently an A4). Assuming the G70 turns out to be a good experience, I will definitely want to stick around for the next gen :)

I think you’ll like it. I’ve heard a lot of good things of the models.

5 and 6 years from generation to generation with a mid cycle refresh?
Basically around the 3rd year is when refresh comes out.

Genesis means business. It will be very interesting to see how things progress.

So I did a little bit of dissecting the photos that @Aura provided. I like I mentioned before the location of the turn/DRL is now gone and in one of the photos you can see actual holes for cooling the brakes. The rear lights will finally come standard with LED reverse and turn signal. Exhaust tips for 2.5T are different then the pre-facelifted. In one angle you can see where the boomerang air outlet is located and it seems as now they changed it to something better that has more air going through it which is good for aerodynamics. Side skirts are still the same which is good to hear.

The video is a lot better at providing context than just pictures alone. The grille doesn't look as big as I thought. It's pretty wide, but it's likely more of a triangle shape like the Essentia than the Superman diamond like the G90. It's not as big up and down like the new G80/G90 either. It still has a cross-hatch grille with the cross-hatch small air vents like spyshots of the GV80 and G80, which to me seems a bit repetitive vs. what's currently on the G70. Good note from the video guy that the license plate is on the bottom, confirming that not only are the rear taillights like the G90 but likely it has the GENESIS text on the back as well. Even if it's not unique, I think the current G70 taillights look better.

Overall, the look impressions to me seems like a sidegrade into something different. The current G70 won't be obsoleted as it seems cleaner and sportier, but the new one will look fancier and more in line with other Genesis products.
