  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

Im excited for it man. What are yall's thoughts on it? I hope it will be released early-mid next year... idc if it's going to be 2021 or 2022. I've been trying to follow the news on this every day.

Hard to have an opinion until we see the car uncovered.

I think the 2021 TLX Type-S will be a solid offering and may just be the car that competes most with the G70. They are both non German brands with great performance, quality and price.

Let the games begin!

Agreed. Excited to finally see the specs of the Type S. But, it's too bad they didn't include all the details in the TLX reveal today. Even so, it looks pretty dang good.

I’m pretty sure Genesis has something up their sleeve and will surprise us. They knew what Acura was cooking at their labs.

Yeah, It does look really good. I just hope it doesn't arrive too late to the game. If the Type S arrives next year with the same performance and features as the current generation of entries in this space, it will quickly be left behind. Acura's strategy is often lacking, although it does seem to have been improving in the last couple years...

We will see..

That's the difference. Genesis has a game plan and isn't resting on their laurels like Honda and Acura did for over a decade. I was a massive Honda/Acura fan boy and year after year I had "hope" they would get their mojo back. Never happened.

Maybe the TLX Type S is the start for this segment but I won't hold my breath. I absolutely love the G70... It would take a lot to make me switch and I put little confidence in Acura being able to do that.

I'm excited for the 2.5t the 3.5t isn't that exciting.

I always felt the 2.0t was underpowered for the MPG delivered. The new engine fixes that. If all the update was that I'd be all over it.

I'm hoping it gets the 14 inch screen, also. Edit: looks like a few of the gossip pages are saying it's a 10.25 inch screen. This means it's something we haven't seen yet. First Look At 2021 Genesis G70 Interior

But I do like the new headlights a lot.

Something about that new TLX rear end I'm not liking. Reminds me of a Mazda.

Huh...I was gonna say I actually really like the Type S rear end, not so much the base TLX rear end. But the front I'm not quite as excited about, but it's still good. Also agreed that there is something about the white that looks really good, and I usually don't like white cars.

I showed it to my wife, she said it's trying too hard to be cool, she said it reminded her of "that one Honda Civic or whatever" (the Civic Type R), and to be honest, I get it.

I was really looking forward to this new TLX and the Type S based on the way the concept looked. Of course no production vehicle ever comes out looking exactly like the concept but this one just didn't do anything for me at all. I just didn't get the same feeling of excitement I did when I saw the G70. I still think the 3rd gen TL looked the best.

TLX will be closer in size to the G80. I had a 2018 and they are saying the new one has 3 inches more wheelbase and a 3+ inch wider track than the last one. I was a big fan of Acura 20 years ago but they have grown slow in keeping up with the competition. Single Turbo 3.0 V-6 will have 360 HP at most. I do think it looks pretty good inside and out and I would like to see it be a success.

I believe it's a twin scroll turbo right? Wouldn't that be able to produce more power? I'm not too familiar with turbo cars as my G70 is the first.

m340i uses a twin scroll and has a rated 382 hp. Its possible they produce more power with it, but my guess is somewhere between 350-370

^Yeah the B58 is also very underrated in terms of power, I've seen a few dynos showing around 380 HP to the wheels on a completely stock car.

Twin scroll turbos certainly have the potential to make more power than a single scroll, along with faster spooling. Our turbos are single scroll, but a twin scroll may not be beneficial as there are only 3 cylinders powering each turbo - I don't think the exhaust pulses would be alternating far off enough to make a significant difference. Just a guess, I don't know. But for single turbo on a V6 it would be kind of silly not to use a twin scroll these days. Personally I like the idea of using one big turbo vs two smaller turbos. Less chance for failure, easier tuning, and much easier to upgrade down the road.

I bet you guys are right on the power estimates for the Type S. But, I'm hoping for at least 400. If so, I'd absolutely consider trading in the G70 for that car.... Unless the new G70 offers a 420HP Sport version. ;)

For the record, I'd also consider the new Stinger if it gets the same treatment as what I'm hoping for on the G70. Excited to see what Hyundai/Kia come up with. We will soon find out what the new Stinger looks like, both in terms of aesthetics and hardware!

The M340i is underated and apparently makes more than 382. In fact I read some posts saying it originally made much more by mistake.. since then BMW has issues some service bulletins to update the ecu, which detunes the engine back to 382 or so.. before it was North of 400 according to a tuner who dyno'd it.

Don’t they just under report it for EU insurance purposes?
They’ve been doing it for years!

I think we should stick to the 2021 G70 facelift info. I keep coming back here only to find Acura and BMW posts :(
