  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

^Yeah the B58 is also very underrated in terms of power, I've seen a few dynos showing around 380 HP to the wheels on a completely stock car.

Twin scroll turbos certainly have the potential to make more power than a single scroll, along with faster spooling. Our turbos are single scroll, but a twin scroll may not be beneficial as there are only 3 cylinders powering each turbo - I don't think the exhaust pulses would be alternating far off enough to make a significant difference. Just a guess, I don't know. But for single turbo on a V6 it would be kind of silly not to use a twin scroll these days. Personally I like the idea of using one big turbo vs two smaller turbos. Less chance for failure, easier tuning, and much easier to upgrade down the road.

I bet you guys are right on the power estimates for the Type S. But, I'm hoping for at least 400. If so, I'd absolutely consider trading in the G70 for that car.... Unless the new G70 offers a 420HP Sport version. ;)

For the record, I'd also consider the new Stinger if it gets the same treatment as what I'm hoping for on the G70. Excited to see what Hyundai/Kia come up with. We will soon find out what the new Stinger looks like, both in terms of aesthetics and hardware!
I think the 2.0T engine is actually a twin-scroll turbo engine. Scroll through this link to the engine info: Genesis G70

Correct. The 2.0 is twin scroll. Also, my bad for bringing up and focusing on other cars!

I, for one, am hoping for a separate climate control screen. Waiting for the infotainment to boot before I can see the AC settings is a pet peeve of mine.

I think they have one in the new G80 so that bodes well.

Also a sunroof delete option would be awesome, but little to no chance of that.

That may be in the refresh.
The Kia Sorento didn’t have a climate control screen from 2016-2018. The 2019 mid-cycle refresh introduced it!

Hmmm. Acura had a separate screen for climate control and a few other things, and everyone hated it. They dropped it in the last refresh/restyles. I wasn't a fan. It would be nice to have a small display of the temp settings, though.

Yeah that's what I meant by separate screen. Not Acura's ill-conceived dual displayed, but a separate little climate display next to the controls with the temp, fan speed, vents, etc.

I don't really like the slanting tail lights from what it looks like in the spyshots... hopefully it comes together better with everything else fully uncovered. Seeing the Stinger next to the G70 with what looks like even bigger quad exhausts makes me jealous Genesis didn't go in that direction :(.

They are quad exhaust but the exhaust aren’t connect to them. The fake tips are connected to the bumper just like the current one. The actual exhaust pipes are the exact same for the 3.5TT on both ends.

I don't think I like those rims as much as the current sport rims. Can't we stick with simpler wheels which are easier to clean?
These wheels might be lighter then the current offerings. I heard the stock rims of pre facelift are heavier. Also the new ones look a little more aero dynamic looking.

That's the difference. Genesis has a game plan and isn't resting on their laurels like Honda and Acura did for over a decade. I was a massive Honda/Acura fan boy and year after year I had "hope" they would get their mojo back. Never happened.

Maybe the TLX Type S is the start for this segment but I won't hold my breath. I absolutely love the G70... It would take a lot to make me switch and I put little confidence in Acura being able to do that.
Just checked the Type S reveal for the first time and oh my. I love the design. I was dead set on Genesis but looks like there will be competition in my mind now.

I assume both with be comparable in specs. I am curious to see where they will set the Type S price at.. it’s going to be hard to beat Genesis imo. Should be an exciting time ahead of us as more details unfold.

I think the old A-Spec topped out around 45k and the Genesis around 50-52k. Assuming the Type-S is a trim on top of the A-Spec, I'd think they would price out pretty comparably in the end. Maybe 48-50k for a Type S?

These numbers are based on absolutely nothing of course.

It'll be higher, probably much higher IMO. With the discontinuation of the RLX the TLX will be the new Acura flagship model. It's already large for a "compact" sedan and it's set to get much larger (~194 inches in length, compared to the G80 at 196 and the G70 at 184). I'd be very surprised if it MSRPs for less than $55k which is where the ancient RLX currently starts at. I fully expect the base model TLX to be priced at $~40k with the Type-S starting at ~$55-60k.
