  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

I still miss the boomerang vent. That was a standout feature.

The new one is too low and small and leaves a big blank spot on that panel. Also, the rear reminds me of a previous gen Honda Accord.
I don't know if it's because I have one or just because I have a picture of the 20's in my head, but I agree about the boomerang. Same with the rear.. I prefer the logo VS the letters. Maybe if I never saw it with the logo, I'd be ok with the different look on the rear end.

Same goes for me with the headlights. But I suspect that since the crowd is split, there isn't a best answer. And FWIW none of these factors is why I bought my G70.

I'm sort of glad that the refresh isn't off the chain, it's ok, but not the same level statement as the refreshed G80, makes me really like gen1 G70 that much more. Gives more time to think about what may come of the 400+ hp model. I mean if they are going to build out the GV70 Sport with that level of HP, you know there is something in the making for a coupe or gen3 G70 with similar specs.

The front light looks fully sorted. Like it or not, it's two separate glass (plastic) pieces.
But the taillights are AWFUL. A piece of body-color plastic over each one, to mimic the front? Really?
WTF?

Like it or not, that's how it is on the G80 and GV80 too. It's all one unit with a plastic cover in between. Only difference is that there are separate light modules that extend into the bootlid.

Difference is that they just made the quad taillights on the FL G70 fit within the previous taillight shape (not going to overspend for a FL, esp. for a model that isn't a big seller) - which is why they don't extend into the trunk like for the G80 and why the rear remains flat, instead of having that signature concave curvature.

Wish they had made the quad headlights a little sharper/more aggressive, but all these improvements can be made for the 2G G70.

Just noticed that. So, is that assembly the same shape as our current rear lights? Guess we could swap them if so... lol

The matte silver is sweet though. No idea why they dont bring the matte colors here. AMG Mercs have matte available. Having the option in a much more affordable vehicle would be a big win.

They may...we don’t know. Trust me though...you don’t want it. Nightmare to upkeep...and nightmare if you get the slightest scratch.

Yes, if you want a matte color get it as a wrap. Then you can 'fix' it every few years by rewrapping.

It's pretty but so hard to live with.

I remember reading somewhere that the matte paint doesn't travel well overseas. Not sure how legitimate that is considering other manufacturers have no issue, including Hyundai itself with the first-generation Veloster, but who knows.

What they could do is, like Range Rover and Jaguar, offer a matte protective film from factory for every color they offer.

I'm not sure if that's the reason. The Australians get the GV80 in matte while we don't.

Video teaser...looks like 3 different teasers meshed together...

Probably some focus group stuff on what Americans like... or, theyll save those colors to have something "new" for the next model year...

Yeah, I'd rather get a satin PPF wrap if I wanted a matte finish.
