  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just got back from having my annual inspection performed on my 2015 Genesis V8. While there, I informed my Service Advisor of several very loud squeaks/rattles in the car. He informed me (rather quickly) that the dealer charges $69 for a "preliminary investigation". If the rattles are related to body issues, Hyundai would cover the cost. If it is caused by two surfaces rubbing that could be resolved with a grease or felt tape, I would have to pay for the repairs.

Does this sound suspect to anyone else? When I owned my Acura RL (and other luxury marks), these were fully covered under the warranty. Thoughts??

I don't understand what he is saying. Squeaks are from thing rubbing together, but the question is why? I don't know of points needing periodic lubrication to prevent noise. Sure, it the squeak is from the box you laid in the back seat, you pay but if it is a loose door panel from the factory, they should cover it, IMO. I have had cars that were prone to a squeak in very cold weather but it went away when up to temperature. If you think it is something like door weatherstripping, give it a shot of silicone spray.

There should be no charge what so ever for this, a "preliminary Investigation" charge is or at least sounds like a way for the dealership to just make a few bucks of you. I would get ahold of Genesis Customer Relations and address this rather quick, keep any sort of recipes you got from when you went in and make sure to keep originals and fax/email them a copy.
