  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone else with the GV70 Sport Plus trim (the upgraded brakes) have issues with the brakes squeaking or squealing when you first drive the car? This isn't a corrosion issue, since it happens to me whenever we drive it. Usually it only happens for the first bit until they are warm but moving the car at slow speeds with some brake pressure leads to squeaking. Is it something to do with the performance brakes or something else? I emailed our service team just in case it is a known issue to them, but wanted to check if someone else has the issue too.

I got the same issue, 3.5 sport advanced. My car is going in for the first service, I will have them inspect and, if needed replace. It’s a brand new car for 60k, brakes shouldn’t squeak. Period.

Mine squeak they started doing it with less than 1000 miles on it. I really notice it when I’m backing out of our steep driveway.

I'm planning the same thing, I'm due for first oil change and am asking the same thing. I'm going to try getting a video and post here, if you have a video, feel free to post too.

I'll post again once I get the service and see what they say.

Every car does it especially in moist weather. It's surface rust that builds on the rotors overnight and is eliminated once the friction rubs the metal on first application.

This doesn't happen only overnight. My wife parks the car for 3-6 hours at work when it's -30 Celsius and it squeaks when she backs out, enough for her coworkers to say "hey that's not normal for a new car"

You might get oxidation after six hours on the east coast at +30 Celsius but I really doubt that here.

Have started experiencing this lately. I notice it a lot more when I park / back my car out of the garage. Do update what the service team says, mine is only 4 months, ~1800 Miles.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Wife just drove home and told me "the brakes are getting worse, go take a video." This is freshly parked, warm engine, warm brakes, backing out of my garage.

I get the same squeaky noise. Fortunately mine is only doing so when I use the remote to pull the CUV out of the garage, when Im driving I do not hear it

What are you using on the floor to protect against moisture/road salt?

I have the same issue. I find it more when it is cold outside and then goes away once the car warms up. Brought it to dealer and they couldn’t find anything wrong. I am bringing it back this week and they will keep the car for a week and try to figure it out.

It's gravel and whatever de icing agent the city uses here. I'm in Northern Alberta.

Edit: Sorry just re-read and saw it was a question. It's a Tapson brand Garage Mat, I bought mine at Home Hardware.

Got a form reply from the regional email I found online. I forwarded the video of my brakes and this thread to them:

Thank you for contacting Genesis Motors Canada and for bringing this matter to our attention.
Please be advised that we are currently reviewing your concerns with the management at the distributor and we will have the Genesis Ownership Manager to connect with you in a timely fashion.
As soon as I get a reply from the ownership manager I will update this again. I would hope they communicate between Canada and the US at the higher levels, so if we get a positive response here you should only have to mention my discussions with them. It might be worth someone contacting their local place too in the US to see if they can get more info and get their investigation process started too.

Got my gv70 back from the first service where they were made aware of the brakes issue and this is what I got in response. Maybe it's my location but the Hyundai service manager didn't respond when I messaged him about checking with the genesis service manager regarding any communication from the distributor about the brakes issue.

Sometimes these invoices are hard to read, but it seems like they want $150 to check it out, or ask me to wait for the brake service interval (isn't that 75k+ km?)

I messaged my Genesis experience manager and will get on the phone with them to let them know it's not acceptable. There's definitely a communications breakdown here between Hyundai and Genesis. I've had a few different people in contact at this dealership I deal with and everyone new has no idea what is going on. The one good thing to come from this is that I got to drive the G70 as a loaner today.

I'll post more when I get some updates.

Any higher performance car I've owned (cadillac ATS, jeep SRT, corvette Z06) all have had squeaky brakes when cold. I just gave up and deal with it lol

Wow, you need to find another dealer. Seems to me you were dealing with a rookie Hyundai service advisor.

They also apparently performed two "recall" services, an update to the entertainment system and something about the door sill - I can't find these anywhere online, not even a TSB regarding them. I only find a recall on the pre-tensioners which isn't listed here. Will also ask about those when I get a hold of someone.

I wish, unfortunately in Canada there's only a handful, and the next closest one is three hours away. We're stuck with what we get ultimately, I'm willing to be patient and get this fixed but will still apply some pressure to at least get some sort of acknowledgement of the issue.

The biggest issue here is just the embarrassment of a nearly $90K Canadian car sounding like a 2005 Chevy Malibu with no brake pads left

The part that no one seems to listen to about this is that it is *not* when cold. I can drive it hard, park it, put it in reverse, and get some squeaking. There's some weird problem with this system that a few of us are dealing with, and it's annoying as hell.

There's a guy with a Lamborghini who parks next to us sometimes and he gave me a tsk tsk and a head shake when he heard the car. It's loud enough for people to always say to me, "hey you might have an issue with your car"
