  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Start a Class Action Lawsuit for Connected Care?

My 2019 G90 was finally fixed under warranty by the dealership putting in a new “head unit”. As I understand it. The head unit is the electronics controlling the stereo, modem and connected services.
The head unit was a refurbished part from a 2018.

How long did it take. Any problems with damage? Do they remove the whole dash?

Anyone have a 2017 that is under the extended warranty (from Genesis)? Do you think they would replace the nonfunctional (no connected services) head unit under that warranty?

It took 1 day. I assume they had to take the dash apart. There was no damage. Everything was exactly like it was before the repair was done. I might add. This was the 2nd head unit replacement. The first replacement was with a original part that had not been refurbished to work correctly.

Under warranty they are required to replace any defective part. And warranty any parts and labor they work on. I do know from the paperwork the repair was over $3000. I paid nothing. In addition they gave me 1 year free of all the connected services packages.

My dealership told me they were surprised there wasn’t a Class Action Lawsuit against Genesis for Connected Care Services.

Does anyone know how to go about getting a class action lawsuit started? There has to be thousands of us with the same issues.

Let’s do our due diligence as a group in finding a legal resolution. You can count me in!
I've had no luck with dealing with Genesis.....no return calls. I have a 2022 GV80 having a hard time getting service for my car it was picked up Monday 11/27 for service it is now Thursday 11/30 and still don't have my car back. Genesis customer service is very poor.

Sorry...but I'm not interested in making lawyers rich.

im thinking about buying a 22 g90 5.0 and downloaded the connected services manual and found this

NOTICE: THIS VEHICLE MAY UTILIZE 3G WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY, WHICH
IS EXPECTED TO NO LONGER FUNCTION AFTER 2022. YOUR VEHICLE
WILL BE UNABLE TO CONNECT TO GENESIS CONNECTED SERVICES
AFTER 2022 AND MAY NOT BE UPDATED TO SUPPORT
OTHER TECHNOLOGIES.

but after reading this thread im confused by a mention of 4g.

If I remember correctly all Genesis have 4G technology from 2019 on.

i googled a long time and searched all over but never found this info. even in the manuals and user guides, but i hope it's true
I know it’s true. I also have a 2015 Sonata. It has 3G. You can no longer purchase the connected services. To upgrade the navigation system or remote start the vehicle.

I believe that ALL G90s are connected services capable. Now your radio may need the TSB and that is at no cost. If it needs a new head unit, I am not sure who pays (is it CPO?).
I can definitely tell you my 2017 G90 has connected services working and its built in modem is at least LTE.
Please see BIG NEWS! There is a TSB that fixes 2017-2019 G90 Connected Services

oh thats great news then. when you need it to heat/cool the car, you need it. would hate not to have it

now just gotta convince myself i can deal with no maint. records on the car and buy it lol

I get the frustration. Connected Care should work as promised since it's a paid feature. If enough people are on board, a class action might push for real improvements or refunds.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It wasn't Genesis that caused the issue, cell companies upgraded/changed technology to something that wasn't compatible. Class action will fail. Suck it up and move on.
