Steering question.

I was driving my minivan today after driving Genesis for two weeks since I bought it. Steering was much much lighter on minivan than on Genesis. Steering on my former Azera was also much lighter.

My question: is steering tightness adjustable on Genesis? Is it supposed to be that tight?

Yes, steering has always felt a bit heavier than my other cars including former BMW. Something that you will get used to. Also has strong sense of returning to "center."

Steering began feeling lighter by the end of second week compare to first several days. And absolutely agree about returning to "center".

I've had a couple of test drives with an '13 R-Spec - Love everything about the car except the steering. To me, its insanely tight.

If the steering was lighter, I'd buy today.

Mine has always required some effort. It's not what everyone likes, but I have learned to appreciate the "connected" feeling it gives, especially on returning to center.

I think "tight" steering is considered a mocho/sports car good quality...if Hyundai lightens the effort then critics will call it "numb" and disconected. I know that I've read people on the forum disparage the super light steering effort of a Toyota sedan. Anything easy just can't be right!

I agree that it's a balance. There has to be some compromise between totally "numb" and steering wound so tight is causes fatigue. It literally is the only thing preventing me from purchasing the R Spec. I guess I was hoping there might be some adjustment possible

Possibly on the 2014 Genesis, since the Veloster and Elantra and Sante Fe have 3 different steering modes to choose from........

Adjustment would be nice...If possible I would lighten my steering immediatelly.

Well all Genesis have electric steering boosters, so it's all basically up to the software engineers to program it in.

Given the # of issues they've had with the radios, transmission controls, engine controls, and throttle controls, it doesn't surprise me that they haven't yet released variable steering on the Genesis.
