  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've seen where a number of folks have replaced the steering wheel air bag in order to have the wings logo. After purchasing the birdie for the kiddies, I don't have enough $ for a new air bag, so

I removed the "H" logo today, and it was pretty straight forward. There are 6 insertion tabs which are part of the "H" that go through the cover to the back of the plastic air bag facing. They are located at:

If you start to gently pry off the H at the sides, and work your way near but not quite to a pin location, you can then cut that part of the metal H off, leaving a small amount of the H right at the pin location for later removal. Maybe do this all the way around. Then you can carefully use jewlers screwdrivers and a very fine forceps like plier, expand out the curved form metal of the remaining H, and remove the tabs.

You will note that the taps have arms on them, so slotting them to one side, while doing a 'stretch' on the slot in the cover, will allow the tab to be pulled out intact.

The new sticker is designed to fit directly over the Flying "H" No need to remove it.

On a related item, you can also remove the H from the laminated side windows. First, take a electron microscope and identify the edge of the lamination. Next take an scalpel and separate the lamination along the edge. Next carefully peel the lamination from the glass starting at the top edge.......

....Once you have the glass removed replace it with an identical sized piece of glass that doe not have the H logo.

I initially placed it on top of the OEM and didn't like the rise - it looked pasted on top to me. It is flush now after removing the H.

and the idea (of the post) being that removing the H is simple, for those that were considering removing it.

Please post pics so we can see how much of a difference removing the H emblem made.
