Steering wheel vibration and passenger seat

I just brought my car (2010 v8) to service and the steering wheel is vibrating more than normal. They gave me a loaner car v6 2012 genny and its dead quiet.

I just want to ask the other members here if there is really vibration on the steering wheel of the v8 version. The service person told me its normal on their v8's which I dont believe at all. Also the steering wheel wobbles a lot on bumpy roads on the highway and the tech told me that I need tire balancing and alignment. I did that and its still wobby on the highway and now she told me I have very hard tires. I dont want to spend 900$ plus on tires if that wont resolve the problem, should I look for another dealer to check this problem.

Also the passenger seat seems to vibrate while on park. Its very weird for a v8 to have so much feedback on the cabin. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2011 v8 and no vibration. That said it does give feedback through the steering wheel when the road is very bumpy or the transistions to bridges are rough, but I want to feel the road and feel how well a car is planted. It feels similar to my BMW.

No vibration to speak of. Even with AC on. And my V8 suspension is much like his ^

maybe vibration is the wrong term but there is a feedback from the engine, while idle or in park, your could feel the feedback from the engine on the steering wheel, I also noticed the 2012 v6 seems to have more quiet motor than my genesis.

My V8 growls. Nothing more than my 4 banger did.

I feel drive train feedback in my seat...but not my wheel....

The V8 in mine is smooth. Just for fun we set a wine glass full of water on it while at idle and no water was splashed out, it just sat there.

Thanks, I know this lady was full of bs, she told me the v8 is suppose to have small vibration compare to the v6. I guess I will bring it to other dealer

I just bought a CPO 09 4.6 and have the exact same problem with the steering wheel vibrating too much and the passenger seat shaking...it seems the problem seems to really get noticeable at around 70mph. I had taken my car to the dealer to have them work on this as well as a couple issues and they found the alignment to be off as well as have a loose suspension piece, but after the issue was supposedly fixed the problem got worse. I know there was some kind of recall for the driveshaft and I wonder if this has anything to do with it. I will be going to another dealer to get a 2nd opinion. This is unacceptable for a premium car this new....I have a 2000 Cadillac Seville that doesnt shake remotely close to my Genny...wtf?

Have your tires checked for balance and how true(round) they are, also have wheels checked at same time. I would go to a tire dealer that sells the brand of tires that are on your car. A tire that is out of balance or is not round or has a wobble in the tread will cause a vibration. Alignment not in specs will not cause a vibration. The TSB on the driveshaft has to do with a vibration while accelerating between 10 and 20 mph. The car could also have a bent wheel that will cause a vibration and the only way to fix that is to get a new wheel.

Mine doesnt vibrate on highway but vibrates on stop signs and on park. The vibrating passenger seat drives me nuts.

WOW. This is a problem that I have been having since day one that has gotten progressively worse. Right now it is as bad as it has ever been since I changed tires over to Pirellis. Here is the problem:
1. Over small changes in the road surface the steering wheel moves as if the steering is over assisted and super super sensitive.
2. There is a steering wheel vibration that seems like any small vibration in the tires is over boosted and magnified.
3. On certain roads such as uneven pavement or roads that have been stripped the steering will move on its own.

The car is almost on the verge of being unsafe.

I have NO success in getting this fixed by either the dealer or by Hyundai corporate despite repeated attempts to rectify. They tell me that it is the design of the car, the alignment (which I had done 3 times) or the tires that are not OEM. It is all BS. My car is in the last few months of its lease so it's not worth the time I have spent fighting it. Good riddance. It is a shame too because most everything else is great. But the way a car drives in you own hands is pretty darn important.

I would like to hear if there is anyone else that has been able to rectify through the dealer or the Hyundai customer service.

There should eb no vibirating in the wheel or seat when sitting still. My 5.0 dosen't do that.

There are a couple of things that could be wrong. Loose or broken motor mounts. Bad tune in the engine. Misfire of the engine. Bad gas. Probably a few others as well that will cause this.

I'd look for a different dealer that has a true mechanic, IF you can find one now days.

Here is the problem:

This is tire pull.

I had a set of Dunlop SP Sport Singatures that did this. On an old asphault road with raised lines, the car would jerk maybe 4 to 6 inches toward the line when the tire rode up on one of the lines. Car would also ride up in dished roads.

I now have Michelin Pilot Super Sports and they don't tire pull at all. They're smooth, quiet, grippy. Great tires.

Get your motor mounts replaced; it will put your ride back in good standing order the way it should be. Wheel vibration in the 4.6's is not normal despite what ANY Hyundai Rep tells you.
