  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

getting ready for a Maine winter... got rid of my Jag x-type for a great deal on a 2010 Genesis, I still have the snows (Blizzak LM-60 225/45/17 - less than 2500 miles) from the Jag. I'm guessing that the sidewall height is not right for the Genesis if I downsize the rims for the winter...but wanted to check in with the community to see if I'm correct.

If I do need to buy new Blizzak's, is a 225/55/17 the best 17" size? What's the best 18" tire size (if I don't downsize the wheel)? The Genesis is a 3.8 'premium' - do I need to be concerned about wheel offsets?

Looks like the LM-60s go on craigslist - too bad; I thought they were great snow tires.

Now to determine if I should drop to 17" (225/55/17??, and if I need special wheels/offsets), or find out the best size 18" snow ??/??/18.

If I drop to 17"... which is better:
6.5 x17 (w/215/60/17 or ?)
7.5 x 17 (w/225/55/17 or ?)

...any comments from the community on the best place to pick up wheels, and any special considerations for offset/etc.

Post the specs of your OEM wheels and we'll go from there. (225/45/18) ?

I believe I have stock wheels currently with Milestar 235/50/18 (the tires were new and came with the car)

Thanks for your attention to a new user/owner.
