  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Stinger 3.3T recall, think it will apply to G70 3.3Ts?

Thanks. Luckily, it seems like a high mileage issue. I'll sell mine long before that (I'm only at 31k miles). However an outstanding recall may hamper the sale. Once they have a fix, I may get it done if it doesn't involve dropping the motor.

I would think they will try their best to find a fix that doesn't include dropping the engine.

Yeah, maybe some type of flare tool to modify the metal section of line w/ a compression type connector. That failed section isn't too long so maybe they can find a fix that won't be a huge labor intensive hassle.
fingers crossed for sure!!
🤞🤞🤞

Yes the service bulletin is R0 255. I know mine goes in mid to end of April. as dealer stated fix email came in this past Monday and remedy will be ready mid April to change out the pipe
So you were already able to reserve a spot for the recall??
Did the dealer know if it involves dropping the motor? thanks for the updates. Mine is in the recall group, and like you mentioned "no remedy" is the current state. Hopefully they'll be able to get this done w/ an easy change out and no major work involved.

Here's a fresh post on reddit, looks like they came up w/ a tool that will allow them to remove and replace that affected oil feed tube without having to drop the motor to access it, HUGE WIN there! One member over there said it it took 5 hrs. Whether or not that's the exact time used or how long the vehicle was just gone from the owner??? I assume if they have a special tool it would be a quick R&R on the lift, hope so!

I just made an appointment to get mine done. Dealer thought 2-3 hours to do. I'm planning on 4. I was talking to someone in front office so they don't have a track record on this fix. Still, if Genesis is only allowing a few hours to fix, that sounds like a tool is used and no engine drop. Here's hoping, since I didn't want them to drop engine and I likely would have waited some if that was the initial fix (though I was surprised that they didn't get a tool for the Stinger fix.)

Maybe they have a tool for the Stinger now too??? Would be curious to see what it looks like, probably quite the snake w/ all kinds of bends and twists, maybe even has a ratchet socket on the end. That whole "dropping the motor" had me worried quite a bit. Ended up making an appointment for the first of July since I'm 200+ miles from the nearest dealer but will be heading back to Vegas for a trip in July so more convenient to have it done there. Hopefully they'll have done a few by then so there won't be any issues 🤞

Just by looking, it doesn't seem that complicated if one can access it. It's a tube bolted on both ends. Hope I'm not being too optimistic.

There's just zero room in the rear of the motor w/ regular hand tools, but their engineers seemed to have come up w/ something special :)

Looks like my recall is coming in the mail today. If anyone is running a JB4, you think i can keep the OBD cord tucked down hidden before I bring it in? I would hate the take everything out. its all nicely ziptied :(.

Got my notice today as well. The link above is great at giving you a visual. I know I should schedule an appointment but I have trust issues with my local service department. From "forgetting" that the car had free maintenance for a period of time when new to them using conventional motor oil instead of full synthetic.

Here's the install procedure for the Kias affected, a few parts to be removed but nothing major thank goodness, here's the link~
Wow, that's a lot more involved than I thought it might be. Nice to see that they don't have to drop the engine, but dang, that does some like a lot of peripheral items that get impacted. I'm a bit nervous, but I guess I'll still get it done... apptmnt in a few weeks. Fingers crossed.

As long as the tech goes by the book it'll be fine :)

Letter arrive today. 3 hour job to replace turbo tube. I'm going to wait until they have a repair for the starter solenoid and have both recalls done at same time. 200 mile round trip for me.

Quite a list of parts req'd
Kit Includes:
Oil Feed Pipe
Oil Level Gauge
Oil Level Gauge Bolt
Coolant Feed Pipe Gasket
Oil Feed Pipe Gasket x2
Upper Radiator Hose
O-Ring
And 3 gallons of coolant
Up to 3qts of oil

I've heard problems of the dipstick end cracking, maybe that's why it's replaced, not sure why the oil dipstick tube would get replaced unless you can't remove it without affecting the seal perhaps? The more I think about this the more prone I am to wait until it HAS to be repaired. One good think is recalls aren't affected by warranty time/miles, so no real need to hurry up and get it done.

I agree for those reasons but also do not want my car to be among the first group to be repaired.....

Good point, I do wonder about a complete break though. If it was a small leak that I could monitor, that would be one thing. But I wonder if failure is typically sudden. Crazy that mine is close to 4 years (not driven hard or much) and yet I'm getting it done. I have couple of weeks to cancel though. Arghhhh!

Haven't they already done quite a few? Stingers were recalled a bit ago. Apparently this repair is less intrusive than what they used to do.
