If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sub and Amp Install

I downsized for my Gene's sake.

Had 2 SA-12Rev3 on 2000watts @1ohm from 2014-2022 in my 07 mustang. They lasted a lonnnnggg time and took plenty abuse. The mustang tho, didn't handle the abuse lol lost many pieces to that car 😂 rearview mirrors, vanity mirror, side mirrors, dash pieces, vents, taillights, you name it, it either broke or fell off 😂

To get proper ported box @32hz, 8's were the way to go to still have emergency room in the trunk if needed.

Also got an X6.5v2 laying in my house waiting to be put into my wife's car but I'm having to win her over with the bass (it's not her cup of tea lol)
Very nice. I'm doing a build with the SML10 to try and save as much trunk space as possible in the G70. Just doing some test fits now, but should turn out pretty decent once I'm done... sub will be facing up and probably come through the hard trunk floor cover but haven't decided how I'm going to finish that out yet.

I just installed RF 2x 10s with a 500 watt amp. I've always had subs in my cars. I wasn't going to put any in this car, but like everyone else said, it just wasn't loud enough. Bought everything I needed from Amazon for about $600. I wanted a balanced system. IMO, it sounds just right now.

Install took a few hours mainly because I built a mount for the amp to go under the spare tire. The box and subs fit great under the "hump". I drilled a hole in the hump and riveted a piece of aluminum with a washer to secure the subs. It isn't a very elegant solution but works.

I’d be happy to just replace all stock hooptie sand just throw in a decent crossover.

Is it much easier just to install a crossover and cut all the existing speaker wires and connect them to the crossover.

Then plug the stock tuner to the input of the crossover.

I never looked at the way it’s all wired but back in the day it was simple. Radio to crossover to speakers and done.

Unless you had amps of course but I’d prefer just to clean up the sound with crossover and speakers only. Used to do everyone radios LOL

2 10’s and amp rack so far, but I think a sealed box instead of ported might interest me a bit more.20181104_152254_resized.webp

Did you end up hooking up your amplifier? I don’t have the Lexicon package and was hopping for some insight.
Ngl I thought the bass knobs would have an off position at the lowest setting, guess I probably should’ve looked into it 🤣 I ordered the 2400watt Skar SDR full package set up and it said it came with a remote turn on wire that I was thinking I could tap the knob into…?

Did you end up documenting this? I don’t have the Lexicon and was wondering if it was the same wires. Thank you.
I used an LC2i (I think they are around $100 an Amazon). I have the 17 speaker lexicon system so there is an amp in the trunk, behind the carpet panel on the driver side. You just tap into the driver/passenger OEM sub wire, (Brown and White)(Blue and Red). The LC2i does the rest of the work creating your remote signal. Run a power wire and ground and hook everything up! It took me 1 hour for this install and I am by NO means a professional. lol. I need to rerun all my wires so I will try to document my process and put everything in one place for people attempting to add an extra sub to the 17 speaker system in the G70.

I have a 2015 Genesis sedan think it would be the same system ? I also have lexicon 17 speaker system

pyrosaxplayer do you know the dimensions of your box?

Quick question as I've never encountered this issue with past installs. When using the blue/red and brown/white wires on the red factory connector, there isn't enough signal power to allow for the amp to function. I tried high level input and connecting directly to RCA's with no change. Currently my sub is running off of the Lexicon amp, and while it doesn't sound horrible, I would like to use my installed amp. So, finally to my question, why do you think this is happening? The amp was just pulled from my Ram 1500 that I traded in and was working just fine.
try using a line output converter that has a line driver built in. We sell AX-LOC2.2-LD for $99.99 it will boost the signal up to 9.5v RMS.

How did u get your loc to turn off ? Mine stays on

It should detect that there isn't activity on the sub channel and turn off. This takes some time because the car "stays awake" for 10-15 minutes after being turned off.

To verify, turn off car and open trunk/door exposing the LOC. Put the key in your house away from the car. Wait 15 mins then go check. If the key comes in range, it will wake it up.

I'm using an LC2i pro and mine stays on until the car goes to sleep. Once the car is asleep it goes off.
