Passing on options to NOT get a sunroof seems extreme to me. How about just keeping the sunroof and shade closed, and enjoying the options??
Exactly the route that I took - Actually, you got no choice. Keep that sucker closed.
The last time I bought a car when you could actually do line-item custom selections was in 1990 when I bought a 1991 Buick - You could basically have the car "custom made" and it was delivered in 3 weeks as ordered.
As I recall, there were maybe 20-30 items that could be custom selected - great way to buy a car.
I am at least halfway serious about buying an F-type Jaguar conv. You run into the same problems there. The base price is around $70K, but the bull**** options push the price up to around $100K in the local inventories.
And, yes, I do know the problems with convertibles - I have owned them before, and some problems come with the territory - but at least you know what you are getting into - no exploding sunroofs!
